The End

Post by Ben M »

For 15 years, Kevin Steen had travelled the world with Rami Sebei. Kevin had met Rami in 2002, when Rami debuted at International Wrestling Syndicate in Montreal, wrestling under a mask and calling himself "El Generico". They had been friends, partners, champions, rivals. From Montreal, they had gone on to work in CZW, PWG and ROH together, and now for the first time ever, they would go one on one in an EBWF ring. Kevin Owens versus Sami Zayn was a match that had happened countless times, and it was always special. At Death Before Dishonor, Kevin wanted to make sure it was another special night.

The scene opened backstage at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Kevin Owens was sitting in his locker room, looking at an old photograph. The photo shows a young Kevin Steen standing over a defeated El Generico. As the camera zoomed in on the photograph, Owens began to speak.

Kevin Owens: November 15th, 2003. 13 and a half years ago, I went one on one with Sami Zayn for the first time. Things were very different then, as you can see from this picture. I wrestled under my real name back then, and as you can see, I was a lot thinner. Sami wore a mask and pretended to be a Mexican luchador. A lot has changed, but one thing has stayed the same. And here's the proof. No matter what happens between Sami Zayn and me, I always come out on top. Fate seems to keep bringing us together, and our history feels like it's never-ending. But let me make one thing clear – I am better than Sami Zayn. I always have been, and I always will be. He might have accomplished more here, but mark my words, my time is coming. Last week, the King of the Ring tournament got underway, and the two-time King, Sami Zayn, beat Seth Rollins. Sami could make history and become the first guy to win King of the Ring three times, but he has to get through me first. And since I am determined to become the 2017 King of the Ring, then go on to win the EBWF World Championship at Summerslam, I have no intention of letting Sami reclaim his crown. In fact, I don’t intend to let Sami go any further in the tournament. You see, people think Sami and I are destined to "fight forever", but I think it's time forever ended. I don't know how many times I've fought Sami Zayn, but I want tonight to be the last time. I'm not just planning to beat Sami Zayn tonight... I'm planning to end him. Don't say I didn't warn you, Sami.

Owens looked into the camera, smirking as the scene faded.
