Reality Bites

Velvet Sky stood backstage in front of a vanity mirror. She calmly ran her fingers through her highlighted hair and exhaled slowly. Velvet then reached for the eyeliner and pulled the top off the twist pencil. Renee Young approached from behind Velvet and cleared her throat to gain Velvet's attention. Velvet didn't even bother to turn around as she went on the apply her black eyeliner.
Renee: Velvet, sorry to interrupt you, but I was wondering if I could get in a word with you before your match tonight against Mandy Rose?
Velvet shrugged and continued about her makeup business.
Velvet: Sure, I suppose I could do that.
Renee: Great. Well for starters, how do you feel about EBWF's newest female athlete, and new EBWF Women's Champion, Mandy Rose?
Velvet: You know, I could pretend I know nothing of Mandy Rose and use the proverbial "I'm sorry, she is...?", or some jab about being irrelevant. That's just too damn easy, and let's face it. Just about every other female around here uses those lines. I'm unlike the rest, I possess beauty, brains, and brawn. Let my history show that. Mandy Rose probably thinks she's got hot shit poppin' right now, but she couldn't be any further from the truth.
Velvet ran the eyeliner pencil back and forth under her eyes. She paused and checked her makeup before placing the lid back on the eyeliner. Velvet then grabbed her mascara and went to work.
Velvet: You see, Renee, Mandy might have "struck gold" early in her career, but trust me when I say that it WILL be short lived. Many of us actual respected talent in the back will make sure that her title reign is one of the shortest in history. This pathetic excuse of a human being, parading around like she's some kind of God's gift to wrestling. Puhhhleaasseee. Heard this time and time again. I mean, we might as well call her what she is, Eva Marie 2.0. Accept I can admit that she might actually possess a smidgen of talent, unlike her originally red prototype. Not much of an upgrade really, just blonde, and well, somehow managed to luck her way into being Champion. But as I said, that will be short lived. Mark my words, Renee.
Velvet ran the mascara brush through her long eyelashes a few times before replacing the cap and setting it on the counter. Velvet continued to look at her reflection instead of actually facing Renee Young.
Renee: Actually, don't you think her win in the first ever Women's elimination chamber was impressive to say the least?
Velvet half halfheartedly shrugged her slender shoulders. She adjusted her outfit on her body to fit her curves perfectly.
Velvet: Yeah, she chipped a little piece of history for herself right out of the gate. Impressive? Hardly, we've seen things like this before. Even the Mean Girls started off strong, I admit, but now look.... where are they? Two thirds of the group is history, and the third member will slip into obscurity where she rightfully belongs soon enough. All these fresh faces stepping into this company thinking that they're just gonna basically do away with the veterans and run rough shot over the division...
Velvet let out a cute little snort/laugh.
Velvet: Well, ya got another thing coming. There may be few of us vets left around here now days, but don't think we're so easy to do away with. We were here long before you and chances are, we will still be here long after you wither up and fade away.
Renee: That seems... a bit harsh?
Velvet shrugged again and turned to face Renee for the first time during this interview.
Velvet: Reality bites. It is harsh, Renee, and so is this business. Mandy might be all bright eyed and on top of the world today, but tomorrow is another story. This industry will beat you up, tear you down, and spit your bones out without a second thought. Mandy is fodder and I'll be surprised if we even see her around doing anything in a year from now. She'll either be carrying my bags to the locker room and getting coffee for us vets who paved the way for her ungrateful ass. Or, she'll be future endeavored much like Eva Marie or Sasha Banks who also thought they were here to stand the test of time. Sometimes the truth hurts, Renee, but not as bad as Mandy's going to hurt once I run right through her tonight. She just better count her lucky stars that her shiny title isn't on the line.
Velvet winked at Renee and the camera and walked out of frame. The camera returned to Renee Young in the center of the shot who shrugged as the camera dimmed out to a commercial break.
