Climbing The Ladder

The Miz had lost the Gateway Championship, and seemingly all hope that he would soon once again be the EBWF Champion. Or had he? The EBWF Championship would without question be defended at next month's Wrestlemania, and The Miz had been given an opportunity, a second chance by Jimmy Havoc, to once again put himself in a very favorable position to become the companies top man. At House of Havoc, The Miz would go one on one with newcomer Tommy End, in a ladder match. Atop the ladder would be a contract to face the EBWF World Champion at Wrestlemania. This was as big of a moment in the career of The "A-Lister" in recent memory, and he would surely be determined to take advantage. Tommy End had ripped his way through the competition in the early part of his stint in the company, and this was certainly as big of chance as any for him. Tommy End was a student of the business, he knew it inside and out, and surely he knew The Miz. The Miz on the other hand had been steadily ascending the ranks over the better part of the last decade, and often times lost sight of the up and comers and the major new players, like End, but without question Tommy would be on the radar of The Miz now. The Miz over the course of his career in the EBWF has ALWAYS been obsessed with being the companies Champion, and this was another chance for him to do just that. It was also Miz' chance to prove that the fire and passion that once let to his great success was still there. He wanted to show all of the world that he still could be widely considered as one of the best the company had ever seen, and not as a guy that just had a good resume. House of Havoc would be the site that a lot of questions would be answered.
The scene opened up in a studio used for EBWF Programming. There were men and women walking around the building, working on various tasks and jobs. The camera panned around quick and went inside one of the rooms. There we saw The Miz. The camera zoomed in on him. He was wearing a gray designer sweatshirt and black slacks. His hair was slicked all the way around, and he had scruff on his face that the camera was close enough to pick up on. Next to him, as always, was Mickie James. She wore a pink blouse and blue jeans. The Miz had a smirk on his face as he began to speak.
The Miz: Now I'm sure many of you were wondering today when you woke up, brushed your teeth and got ready for the day, "I wonder how Miz is going to react?... I wonder how Miz is going to take losing the EBWF Gateway Championship.. I wonder what his next move is going to be." Those of you who were actually wondering that, you obviously do not know your hero as well as you should by now. The fact of the matter is.. I didn't lose the EBWF Gateway Championship.. I was never pinned.. Jeff Hardy- imbecile that he is- lost that title for me. Just like he's lost everything for himself all of his miserable and pathetic life. Is it frustrating? Of course it is.. is it debilitating- no it is not. You see Mizfits- if there's anything you should know by now about me- it's that I am the most resilient guy around- I just keep coming back. If you knock me down- I'm getting up. If you scream loud and it hurts my ears- I'm screaming louder and I'm hurting yours more. If we both eat chicken wings till our stomach's hurt- and you quit- I'm eating one more. I'm a fierce competitor and I got a fire that never stops burning for this business and to be successful. I'm ALWAYS motivated.. and just incase I wasn't- my ladder match at House of Havoc just so happens to be for the right to go on to Main Event Wrestlemania next month. So Mizfits- I think it goes without saying... but I'm going to say it... I'm freaking pumped up for this match. I have won a ton of matches throughout my career here, I've won titles, but there's no bigger thrill than standing center stage.. in the biggest match at the biggest event on our calendar. One victory, is all that separates me from that honor once again. One man.. is all that stands in my way of my taking one step closer to the EBWF Title.. that one man is Tommy End.
Mickie James: Tommy Who?

The Miz: Now Mickie I'll admit.. that was my first reaction too. However, I realized something in that moment. I realized that that's what the old me would have done. That's what The Miz who didn't care about anyone or anything would have done, that's the approach I would have taken to that match. I would have gone in, not even considering that an unknown, a newbie, a fresh face, could ever be capable of toppling someone like me. I would have gone in underestimating the absolute shit out of Tommy End, and honestly I might have gone in and lost this match. I might have gone in, and dropped the ball on one of the biggest opportunities I've had in my entire career. However, that's not what I'm doing now, that's not what I'm doing at all. I will not be dropping the ball on this.. I will not be dropping anything.. I got friggin STICK EM on my hands when it comes to this. All I'm going to be dropping on Sunday is Tommy End. Now Tommy End, has been playing the whole "you don't know me.. but you soon will.." card.. though it's adorable.. it's not true. I do know you Tommy, I know your type of guy. I know the giant bag of chips you have on your shoulder, because of the grind that you had to put in to get to this business. I know it.. I get it.. and I respect it. You've fought all over the world, you've had humble beginnings.. and now you're here in the big time of the EBWF looking to make a name for yourself. It's what any of us hope to do, and I'll hand it to you.. you've had a really hot start.. and many folks are saying you just might even be the next big thing around here... however, there's a problem with that... and that's that you still have to deal with the CURRENT big things. I know you study the business Tommy, and I know you know who in the heck I am.. because let's face it.. everybody does.. but just incase you weren't sure. My name is Mike Mizanin.. you can call me The Miz. All of you guys that fought with cockroaches in the ring at one point in your life, look at me and talk down to me because I went from reality TV to the business. Because I spent the better part of my early 20's nailing chicks in the real world house.. and not wrestling on concretes covered in blankets.. I'm somehow less deserving of the success I've had. However, you're smarter than that.. aren't you Tommy? You know that though initially it was widely believed that I was a gimmick and would fade out.. you know that I've scratched... clawed.. out smarted.. out worked.. OUT WRESTLED.. people to sustain my run. You know enough about this business Tommy.. to know that sustained runs don't happen.. without that being an ABSOLUTE FACT. You also know.. that the ENTIRE EBWF UNIVERSE.. ALL MY MIZFITS.. know just what the heck I'm made of.. they appreciate and can get behind me.. because of EVERYTHING I've DONE to prove that I'm truly one of the best around here. Though you're a big star on the indy circuit.. though people know who you are in Kazakhstan.. the jury is completely still out on how you stack up in the big leagues. Can you get it done.. against the most established.. the greatest performers.. the dare I say it.. most MUST SEE guys to ever lace up their boots. Can you hack it against guys not named "Wild Jim" or are you simply a guy who's only big on internet blogs.. and not in the ring where it actually counts and matters.

The Miz: Mickie really? You are literally just doing all of the things that I would have done in the past...
Mickie James: It's going to be the "END" of the road for him.

Mickie James: He's got more tattoo's than talent.
The Miz: REALLY!? Ok that's it.. go sit in timeout.
The Miz brought Mickie over to a chair that had a sign above it that was labeled. "TIMEOUT" She sat in the seat and pouted. The Miz comically turned back to the camera.
The Miz: As I was saying before the ghost of Miz past with a prettier face started blabbing away..
Mickie smiled at the compliment Miz snuck in there.
The Miz: I know exactly what to expect on Sunday with Tommy End. He speaks all the time about the fire he has right now, the passion he has to climb the ranks in this industry. He is NEVER going to be a tougher victory than he is right now, because not only is he just starting his climb.. he's also gained some momentum with a couple of very impressive wins early on is his stay. Though victories over Rey Mysterio, and AJ Styles are impressive. Neither one of those guys is The Miz. Mysterio probably just ran out of money.. and apparently things to say even though he's only been here a couple of weeks.. and Styles is about as motivated as a butcher at a Vegetarian cookout. So though those would have been big time W's in 2004, this is 2018.. and I don't think they are ready to enshrine you into the EBWF Hall of Fame just yet Tommy Boy. The EBWF is a land of opportunity and the best thing about it, is that it often rewards the opportunities to those that are most deserving of them, and it also does a great job of vaporizing the ones that are not.
Mickie James: NOW WE'VE COME... TO THE "ENDDDDDD" OF THE ROADDDD...
The Miz cocked his head

The Miz: So which one are you Tommy? Huh? Are you the guy that's going to prove that he's a stud.. are you the guy that's going to make room for yourself at the big stars table here.. Or are you going to be apart of the much larger group.. the much larger faction of flash in the pan stars. The much larger group of guys who were a fart in the wind here in the EBWF. The guys who can say.. hey "I once had a big match in the EBWF.." or " I was on a pay per view once.. " but then end up working at Denny's or Big Larry's Gas Station for the rest of their pathetic existences. What's it going to be Tommy? One thing I know for sure is that there will NOT be more of an indication the answer to that question, than what you do this Sunday at House of Havoc against the likes of me. This Sunday, your performance will tell a lot about the next step you plan to take around here. If you like so many others before you, come into this match and totally shit the bed against me.. it will tell not only me.. but everyone else in the EBWF.. that Tommy End.. just isn't a guy with powerful enough shades to see through the bright lights.. that Tommy End just isn't a guy who has the shoulders to handle the burden of the big time. Trust me Tommy... you aren't winning on Sunday.. but at least intrigue us... at least show up and compete.. at least show up and fight.. be the tough guy.. the brash guy.. that we've all seen and heard about.. give me a challenge Tommy.. please for all of us.. or don't.. but either way.. I'm going to be the one climbing to the top of that ladder and retrieving that contract.. and it won't be because I underestimated you... it won't be because I made fun of your name.. or your haircut.. or your tattoo's even though those are all REALLY dumb... but it'll be because I'm truly.. one hundred and ten percent... BETTER THAN YOU.
The Miz cocked his head towards Mickie and she excitedly got off the timeout chair and followed The Miz out of the studio as the scene faded out. The scene reopened in London, England- site of EBWF House of Havoc- the crowd was enjoying a House Show on the Saturday before the big event. A match had just concluded when "AWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESOMMMMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" Followed by "I Came To Play" by Downstait was heard over the PA System. The crowd erupted in cheers, as The Miz confidently made his way through the curtain flanked by Mickie James, he had his ring gear on.. and sunglasses. He slapped a couple of hands on his way down to the ring, and went through his arrogant entrance. He got in the ring, and dramatically removed his sunglasses, to reveal a wide eyed smile on his face. Mickie was clapping for him as well. The crowd started a "Miz is Awesome" Chant.
The Miz: WELL YOU'RE GOSH DARN BLOODY RIGHT I AM!
The crowd cheered again.
The Miz: London- you have exceptional taste!
More cheers again.
The Miz: All of you know why I'm here. If you don't then holy hell.. where have you been!? Tomorrow night, in this very ring I'm going to be going one on one with Tommy End.. in a LADDER MATCH.. this will not be any regular ladder match Mizfits.. this will be a ladder match with a contract to become the NEW #1 Contender for the EBWF TITLE AT WRESTLE FREAKING MANIA.. and it is a contract that I will absolutely pa-sa-tootly be retrieving.. I got a fever London.. and the only prescription is The Miz main eventing Wrestlemania. HOO RAH!
Crowd: HOO RAH!

The Miz: Now folks- Tommy End is a worthy opponent. He's a guy who really wants this match bad.. he's a guy who really wants to be a star in the EBWF.. he's a guy that really wants his name in lights.. but that's REALLY TOO FREAKING BAD.. because as long as I'm here.. as long as I'm around.. there's no star that is EVER going to shine brighter than mine.. no MONEY MAKER- or smile with more watts than this one. There will never be another wrestler who is quite at the level of this beautiful bastard standing in front of you right now. Tommy End may BE average.. he may BE victorious a couple of times here and there.. he may BE a marginal success.. but there's one thing he'll never BE.. he will never BE Miz... so he'll have to instead... everybody....?

The Miz: You see London, over the course of my career, I have been in big matches. I've been in matches that could be considered huge turning points in what was going to happen next in the amazing and charmed life of The Miz. In those matches.. sure I've lost a couple.. but most of the time London.. I rise to the occasion. More often than not.. The Miz is the one left standing, The Miz is the one who can handle the pressure.. who can bear the burden of high pressure contests. Tomorrow night, it will be no different. Tomorrow night, both myself and Tommy, will have a chance to do what all men who wrestle for a living dream of. We will have a chance to GUARANTEE our spot in the Main Event at Wrestlemania- and I don't know much Mizfits- well actually I do... I know everything... but one of those things.. is that The Miz was BORN to main event every big show in this business because I'm the best god damn wrestler on this planet. I'm the cream of the crop.. the best of the best.. and I've said it before and I'll say it again.. I'm YOUR FAVORITE WRESTLERS

I'm all for guys spring boarding their way up the ranks in the EBWF.. but I'm NOBODY's springboard.. and the only climbing that there's going to be tomorrow- is going to done by ME.. UP THE LADDER.. to retrieve that contract. Tommy End, though tomorrow night will send you once again to the back of the line.. at least you'll still be in the line. As you know from experience, it takes guys their whole careers sometimes to get here.. and some people never make it. You've made it my man.. be proud.. hold your head high.. don't quit after tomorrow doesn't go your way. Continue to fight on.. Your life is coming together.. it's moving in the right direction.. just don't take it personal when I SEVERELY slow down the speed it's moving. Too much too fast for you.. and I think that's why you find yourself in this match Tommy. In fact, I know it is.. I've seen it before.. guys like Sami Zayn.. Christian.. who have shown back up here.. and gone on quick little runs.. and the EBWF is like.. OKAY.. THAT's ENOUGH.. give him to The Miz.. and WHAM! That's the "END" of that...okay .. Tomorrow night, in this very ring I'm going to be going one on one with Tommy End.. in a LADDER MATCH.. this will not be any regular ladder match Mizfits.. this will be a ladder match with a contract to become the NEW #1 Contender for the EBWF TITLE AT WRESTLE FREAKING MANIA.. and it is a contract that I will absolutely pa-sa-tootly be retrieving.. I got a fever London.. and the only prescription is The Miz main eventing Wrestlemania. HOO RAH!

The Miz: Now folks- Tommy End is a worthy opponent. He's a guy who really wants this match bad.. he's a guy who really wants to be a star in the EBWF.. he's a guy that really wants his name in lights.. but that's REALLY TOO FREAKING BAD.. because as long as I'm here.. as long as I'm around.. there's no star that is EVER going to shine brighter than mine.. no MONEY MAKER- or smile with more watts than this one. There will never be another wrestler who is quite at the level of this beautiful bastard standing in front of you right now. Tommy End may BE average.. he may BE victorious a couple of times here and there.. he may BE a marginal success.. but there's one thing he'll never BE.. he will never BE Miz... so he'll have to instead... everybody....?

The Miz smiled wide and the crowd cheered.
The Miz: You see London, over the course of my career, I have been in big matches. I've been in matches that could be considered huge turning points in what was going to happen next in the amazing and charmed life of The Miz. In those matches.. sure I've lost a couple.. but most of the time London.. I rise to the occasion. More often than not.. The Miz is the one left standing, The Miz is the one who can handle the pressure.. who can bear the burden of high pressure contests. Tomorrow night, it will be no different. Tomorrow night, both myself and Tommy, will have a chance to do what all men who wrestle for a living dream of. We will have a chance to GUARANTEE our spot in the Main Event at Wrestlemania- and I don't know much Mizfits- well actually I do... I know everything... but one of those things.. is that The Miz was BORN to main event every big show in this business because I'm the best god damn wrestler on this planet. I'm the cream of the crop.. the best of the best.. and I've said it before and I'll say it again.. I'm YOUR FAVORITE WRESTLERS

The Miz: And I'm as determined, as focused, as hell bent on victory as I can remember being in a very very long time. I'm all for a land of opportunity.. I'm all for new guys making their mark.. I'm all for guys spring boarding their way up the ranks in the EBWF.. but I'm NOBODY's springboard.. and the only climbing that there's going to be tomorrow- is going to done by ME.. UP THE LADDER.. to retrieve that contract. Tommy End, though tomorrow night will send you once again to the back of the line.. at least you'll still be in the line. As you know from experience, it takes guys their whole careers sometimes to get here.. and some people never make it. You've made it my man.. be proud.. hold your head high.. don't quit after tomorrow doesn't go your way. Continue to fight on.. Mickie James grabbed Miz mic.

The Miz comically came out of this conversation, and the crowd was laughing.. Miz refocused.
The Miz: If you can get through this match Tommy.. be a good sport when you lose.. you got a spot at the party. Your life is coming together.. it's moving in the right direction.. just don't take it personal when I SEVERELY slow down the speed it's moving. Too much too fast for you.. and I think that's why you find yourself in this match Tommy. In fact, I know it is.. I've seen it before.. guys like Sami Zayn.. Christian.. who have shown back up here.. and gone on quick little runs.. and the EBWF is like.. OKAY.. THAT's ENOUGH.. give him to The Miz.. and WHAM! That's the "END" of that...okay .. I didn't even do that on purpose.. I know it's cheesy.. but holy hell the guys name might as well be "TOMMY THE" It was bound to happen eventually.

The Miz: Anyways- I'm the guy that puts a stop to momentum.. that puts a halt on rises that are too fast. I'm the EBWF's MOTHER FREAKING STOP SIGN... and then you throw in the fact that this match is for a chance to become EBWF Champion.. and you can just forget it. The simple fact of this matter.. is that at House of Havoc.. The Miz is going to climb the ladder.. and I'm going to retrieve that contract.. and I'm going to go on to Wrestlemania and once again become YOUR EBWF WORLD CHAMPIONNNNNNNN!

The Miz confidently flipped the mic to the mat, and "I Came To Play" came on once again. Miz exited the ring, with Mickie, to cheers. Would Miz be able to make good on his words? Only time would tell. The scene faded to black.
