Post by Ben M »

The show opened in the Sprint Center as pyro went off at the stage and the EBWF Universe got on their feet.

Corey Graves: Welcome, ladies and gentlemen to EBWF Warfare. I’m Corey Graves.

Mauro Ranello: And I’m Mauro Ranallo! And we’ve got an action-packed line up for you tonight. I can hardly wait to get to the first match, Corey.

Corey Graves: With Wes Ikeda back in charge anything can happen! Later tonight we have a very special edition of the Highlight Reel with Kenny Omega.

Corey Graves: And right now, we’ve got two brand new EBWF Superstars, both sure to make a splash here in EBWF.

“Immigrant Song” hit the PA and the crowd stayed on their feet. The words Jon Moxley flashed across the tron as an entrance video for the new acquisition began to play.

Christy Hemme: Introducing first, from Cincinnati, Ohio. Weighing in at 225 pounds, Jon Moxley!

Moxley entered the ring and “Psychosocial” by Slipknot blared in the arena.

Christy Hemme: And his opponent, from Birmingham, England. Weighing in at 205 pounds. He is Pete Dunne!

Corey Graves: Both of these men are widely regarded on the independent circuit Mauro, and I can’t wait to see what they have to offer EBWF.

The bell rang and the crowd cheered as they immediately tied up. There was a clean break, and they sized each other up, before locking up again. Dunne went for an arm break, but Moxley countered. Dunne slipped out of the ring, and the men stared each other down for a moment.

Corey Graves: Surely they know this thing can’t be won from out there.

Never the less, the action spilled outside. Dunne went in on Moxley, manipulating his joints, and stomping on Jon’s mangled fingers. He took Moxley into another corner for more of the same, but Moxley countered and dropped Dunne back first into the corner of the steps. Jon rolled Dunne back in the ring to break up the referees count. Jon covered, but it was only good for a two count. He maintained ground control until Dunne kneed out of a hold. Mox hit a pump handle back breaker, and tried to pin him again. He got another pin, but Dunne kicked out at two again. Moxley set Dunne up in the corner for a chop, but Dunne sent one right back. Jon hit another back breaker. Dunne was back on his feet quickly. They traded punches back to the top, and Dunne knocked Moxley to the ground, and he hit face first. Dunne added insult to injury with a diving kick. They fought onto the apron and Moxley dropped him back first on the apron.

Mauro Ranallo: This is some of the most powerful action we’ve seen from EBWF newcomers in a long time!

Moxley took control, but Dunne staved off an attack with an enzuigiri sending Moxley to the opposite side of the ring. He got space for a big elbow, and Moxley fell to the mat. Dunne helped Moxley up, but Moxley whipped him into the corner. Dunne flipped out of the way, and hit a kick to the midsection. He grabbed Moxley and applied an arm bar submission but twisted it into a joint manipulative submission and stomped it out. Dunne hit a sit out power bomb and went for another pin.

Corey Graves: And another kick out from John Moxley!

Dunne got to his feet and stomped away at Moxley. Jon was down again and Dunne headed up to the top, but met a huge dropkick on the decent. The crowd was into it was Moxley’s turn to go for a pin, but Dunne kicked out at two. Moxley was frustrated and helped Dunne to his feet. He hit some chops, and then a running forearm. He rolled Dunne up, but Dunne reversed it into a roll up of his own. They switched on and off with the pin attempts, and Moxley caught Dunne for a back breaker. Mox went for another power move bunt was unable to hold on due to having his fingers stomped on earlier in the match. Dunne blocked a suplex, pushed Moxley into the turnbuckle, bounced back for a half and half suplex for a two. Dunne was visibly frustrated that Moxley wouldn’t give up. Moxley rolled Dunne up into a triangle, appeared to go for a cover, but ended up deadlifting him instead. The crowd cheered as Moxley catapulted Dunne into the top rope head first. Moxley hit a power slam and covered him again.

Corey Graves: No!

Mauro Ranallo: Jon Moxley was so close there.

Moxley hit another pair of knees, but Dunne kicked out again. Dunne found the energy for an X Plex. Moxley got to his feet and countered with a knee, and then …

Mauro Ranallo: Dirty Deeds!

Corey Graves: This could be …

3!

Christy Hemme: Here is your winner, Jon Moxley!

Corey Graves: Jon Moxley gets the win here, Mauro, but it was anybody’s game. What a showing from Pete Dunne. I can’t wait to see what these men do here in EBWF.

Mauro Ranallo: Up next, we’ve got singles action as Marty Scurll goes one on one with Cedric Alexander!

Cedric Alexander came to the ring first, followed by Marty Scurll. When both superstars were in the ring, the refs referee called for the bell. The two men locked up and Alexander applied a headlock, but Scurll broke out of it and whipped Alexander against the ropes. As Alexander ran back towards him, Scurll hit a clothesline, then as Alexander got back to his feet, Scurll got behind him, hitting a pumphandle neckbreaker. He hooked the leg and the referee counted - 1... 2... kickout! Scurll pulled Alexander to his feet and went to whip him into the corner, but Alexander reversed the Irish whip, sending Marty Scull into the corner. Alexander ran towards Scurll, going for a corner forearm smash, but Scurll moved out of the way, causing Alexander to crash into the turnbuckles. As Alexander staggered backwards, Scurll grabbed him, locking in the crossface chickenwing! Alexander was able to get to the ropes, and the referee forced Scurll to break the hold. Frustrated, Scurll pulled Alexander away from the ropes and stomped on him several times, then dragged him to his feet. Scurll lifted Alexander over his shoulders, hitting the Bird of Prey! He hooked the leg and the referee counted - 1... 2... 3!

Corey Graves: It’s over! A dominant victory for Marty Scurll!

Scurll celebrated as Warfare went to commercial.

As Warfare returned from commercial, Johnny Gargano was on his way to the ring for the next match.

Mauro Ranallo: Welcome back! Things are about to get Glorious!

After Gargano had entered the ring, "Glorious Domination" by CFO$ hit and the crowd sang along as Bobby Roode made his way down the ramp.

Corey Graves: After suffering a disappointing defeat when he challenged Dalton Castle for the Gateway Championship last week, Bobby Roode will be looking to return to winning ways here tonight!

As he entered the ring, Roode removed his robe and glared across at his opponent. The referee called for the bell, and Gargano went to lock up with Roode, but Roode hit him with a kick to the midsection, then followed it up with a series of right hands. Roode grabbed Gargano and dragged him towards the corner, slamming his head against the top turnbuckle then hitting him with some more right hands in the corner. Roode then hit Gargano with a knife edged chop, before dragging him out of the corner and lifting him over his shoulders, hitting a fireman's carry slam. Roode then hit a knee drop, before hooking the leg. The referee counted – 1... 2... kickout!

Mauro Ranallo: A strong start here by Bobby Roode – he's taking the fight to Johnny Gargano!

Corey Graves: Roode is angry that he wasn’t able to become the Gateway Champion last week, and he's taking that frustration out on Gargano!

Roode pulled Gargano to his feet and hit him with some more right hands, then whipped him back into the corner. He sat Gargano on the top rope, setting him up for a superplex, but Gargano kicked him away then hit a missile dropkick. Both men got to their feet, and Gargano went for a superkick... but Roode ducked out of the way, then grabbed Gargano, hitting a belly to belly suplex. Both men got to their feet once more, and Roode whipped Gargano against the ropes, before hitting a spinning spinebuster! He hooked the leg and the referee counted – 1... 2... Gargano kicked out!

Mauro Ranallo: Despite Roode's dominance, Gargano just won't quit!

Roode looked frustrated, and he stomped on Gargano several times, before going for a Boston crab. Gargano kicked him away and got to his feet, then as Roode went for a clothesline, Gargano ducked out of the way and hit a double knee backbreaker. Gargano went to lock in the Gargano Escape, but Roode broke free and rolled out of the ring. Gargano ran against the ropes, going for a tope suicida... but Roode caught him, and slammed Gargano onto the ramp!

Mauro Ranallo: Gargano has shown an iron will in this match so far, but can he keep that up after being slammed onto the steel ramp?!

Roode hit a knee drop on the ramp, then rolled back into the ring, going for a count out victory. As the referee reached the count of 8, Gargano stumbled back to his feet. The referee counted 9, and Gargano rushed to the ring, sliding under the bottom rope just before the 10 count! Roode stomped on Gargano's neck, then pulled him to his feet and hit a neckbreaker. He hooked the leg and the referee counted – 1... 2... kickout!

Corey Graves: Again Gargano kicks out! I don't think Bobby Roode can believe it!

Roode began arguing with the referee, accusing him of counting too slowly. Gargano began to stir, and as Roode turned his attention back to his opponent, Gargano rolled him up with a small package! The referee counted – 1... 2... Roode kicked out! Both men got to their feet and Gargano hit an enzuigiri, then followed it up with a double underhook suplex. Once again, Gargano went for the Gargano Escape, but before he could lock it in, Roode grabbed the ropes! The referee ordered Gargano to take a step back, and as Gargano did so, Roode used the ropes to pull himself up. When Roode was on his feet, Gargano went to grab him, but Roode hit a swift kick to the groin, then hit Gargano with the Glorious DDT! He hooked the leg, and the referee counted – 1... 2... 3!

Mauro Ranallo: Finally! Despite Gargano's resilience, Bobby Roode returns to winning ways here tonight!

Corey Graves: That performance was simply glorious, Mauro!

Roode celebrated, then made his way to the back, leaving Gargano laid out in the ring.

Mauro Ranallo: Up next, we’ve got women’s action as the number one contender for the Women’s Championship, Mandy Rose, goes one on one with Nikki Cross!

Corey Graves: A win for Cross tonight could move her into contention for a title shot, and she’s got someone new in her corner...

“Glasgow Cross” by CFO$ hit and the crowd gave a mixed reaction as Nikki Cross made her way to the ring, accompanied by Finn Balor. Cross seemed excited to be competing, and as she entered the ring she ran back and forth against the ropes. As “Kiss from a Rose” by Wake Me hit, Nikki stopped running and turned her attention to the stage. The crowd booed as Mandy Rose walked down the ramp. Once Rose was in the ring, the referee called for the bell. Cross charged at Rose, taking her down with a clothesline and stomping on her several times. Cross pulled Rose to her feet and threw her into the corner, then hit a series of punches. Rose fell into a sitting position and Nikki began kicking her, then applied a foot choke! The referee threatened to disqualify her and began counting - 1... 2... 3... 4... Cross took her foot off Mandy’s throat just before the 5 count.

Mauro Ranallo: Ruthless aggression being shown her by Nikki Cross, and Finn Balor seems to approve!

The camera cut to Balor at ringside, who shouted words of encouragement to Nikki Cross. Cross pulled Rose out of the corner and dragged her to her feet, lifting Rose over her shoulders and hitting a Samoan Driver! She hooked the leg and the referee counted - 1... 2... Rose kicked out! Nikki turned Rose over and went to apply the Crossface, but before she could lock it in Mandy fought her off and rolled out of the ring.

Corey Graves: Mandy Rose trying to stop Nikki’s momentum there and take a moment’s respite from this relentless onslaught!

Cross exited the ring and went after Rose, but Rose grabbed her and threw her into the ringside barrier. She then hit Cross with a DDT on the outside, before rolling back into the ring. Balor shouted for Cross to get to her feet as the referee began counting - 1... 2... 3... 4... 5... at the count of 6, Cross got to her feet and slid back into the ring. She ran at Rose, but Rose hit a snap scoop powerslam then hooked the leg. The referee counted - 1... 2... kickout! Rose pulled Cross to her feet and set her up for the Bed of Roses, but Cross blocked it and countered with a back body drop. Rose got to her feet and Cross hit her with a swinging fisherman neckbreaker, then went to the top rope. Cross signalled for the Glasgow Kiss, then looked at Balor and smiled. Cross jumped from the top rope, hitting Rose with the Coup de Grâce!

Mauro Ranallo: Nikki Cross paying homage to Finn Balor there!

Cross hooked the leg and the referee counted - 1... 2... 3!

Corey Graves: It’s over! An impressive victory for Nikki Cross!

Finn Balor entered the ring and hugged Nikki, then raised her arm in victory. Balor and Cross celebrated in the ring together, then made their way to the back.

"Ain't No Rest for the Wicked" hit the PA and Seth Rollins came to the ring.

Corey Graves: We're about to see two of the most talented EBWF Wrestlers in the ring right now, and I am excited for this one Mauro.

Mauro Rapallo: Seth Rollins is coming off the heels of a big victory over Jeff Hardy at Wrestlemania, and Randy Orton has been on quite the slump late...

Corey Graves: Don't let him hear you say that, Mauro! Randy Orton is the longest reigning EBWF World Champion of all time. He doesn't need your approval.

"Go Back to Sleep!" The crowd popped for Randy Orton who came out to the arena paying little mind to the crowd he stared Seth down and when the bell rang they locked up. Randy applied a headlock, but Rollins turned it around and then dropped Orton with a shoulder. They ran the ropes and Orton nailed a dropkick. Rollins avoided an RKO and slid out of the ring for a breather. Orton chased Rollins back into the ring. Rollins dropped Randy's neck over the top rope. He took Orton to the corner and stomped away. The fans began to chant for Randy. He came back and slammed Rollins by his head. He followed up with an uppercut and big right hands in the corner as the fans counted along. Rollins turned that into a power bomb in the opposite corner. Randy tried to come after, but Rollins hit a super kick and went for the two.

Mauro Ranallo: And Orton kicks out!

Rollins worked Randy over in the corner some more and hit a suplex for another pin attempt. When Randy kicked out Rollins transitioned into a headlock. Randy started fighting back, but Rollins dropped him face first into the turnbuckle. Rollins charged with a big forearm, and Orton went back down in the corner. Rollins kept control until Orton dumped him to the apron and fought back. Rollins blocked the powerslam. Orton fell down, and Seth got back in looking for the curb stomp, but Orton maneuvered and got the power slam in anyway. He backed Rollins into the corner, hitting big uppercuts. Rollins tried to back Orton into the corner, but Orton blocked it and hit an overhead suplex. Rollins blocked the draping DDT and knocked Randy to the floor with a kick to the head. Seth nailed a moonsault from the apron. The referee began the ten count.

Corey Graves: These two have to bring it back into the ring!

Rollins brought it back in and went to the top. Orton jumped up and crotched him. Fans chant for an RKO, and Orton clubbed up for a superplex. Rollins fought it and turned it around, but Orton countered that and backdropped Rollins from the top to the mat. Orton came off the top with a crossbody but Rollins rolled through for a two count. Orton caught Rollins and nailed a second rope draping DDT. He got the crowd hyped as he dropped down, but Rollins countered the RKO with a roll up for two. Rollins stunned Orton with a kick. He countered again, but Randy nailed the RKO and went for the pin.

As Warfare returned from commercial, the ring was set up for the Highlight Reel, and Chris Jericho was stood in the center of the ring. Jericho looked unenthused as he began to speak.

Chris Jericho: Alright Kansas City, I don't want to be here any more than you do... so let's get this over with. Welcome to the Highlight Reel! My guest tonight is the man who shocked the world when he debuted at the Royal Rumble, becoming the new EBWF World Champion. He then shocked the world again last Sunday at Wrestlemania, when he lost that World Title to The Miz of all people. I did invite Miz to be on the Highlight Reel tonight, but he is injured as a result of Kenny Omega's attack last week... so I invited the former champion to be my guest instead. Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for Kenny Omega!

Devil’s Sky played as Kenny Omega slowly made his way out onto the ramp. Gone was the cocky confidence and in your face charisma, replaced with a simmering rage just below his unnervingly calm demeanour. Kenny walked into the ring and gave Jericho a look from head to toe before taking a seat. After Kenny had taken a seat, Jericho asked his first question.

Chris Jericho: So Kenny, you've wrestled all around the world, but for the last decade, you've spent most of your time in Japan. As you know, Japan is a country dear to my heart, and every match I've ever wrestled there has been special to me. Which makes me wonder... what was it that made you decide to give up New Japan, and sign for EBWF? Was it just because you saw an opportunity to become the EBWF World Champion? Or was there another reason?

Kenny Omega: Well, when you’re the hottest free agent in professional wrestling sometimes you have to think about what it is you really want out of your career. Some people want the glory. Some people want the fame. For me? I want the money. I want the women… and the EBWF gave me the opportunity to have all of that and so much more. Now, the key to money and women… is my EBWF World Heavyweight Championship that I came in and took. I didn’t wait for a match to be presented to me, I heard about the Title being on the line at the Rumble and I signed the contract and knew that I would take that title even if I wasn’t in the match. An opportunity to do all that doesn’t come around all that often after all.

Chris Jericho: Of course. An opportunity too good to turn down – I agree. And just two months after your debut, you got to main ev... I'm sorry, my bad. And just two months after your debut, you got to defend your World Title at Wrestlemania. That must have been an amazing experience, right? Even if it wasn't quite the main event match you were hoping for.

Kenny Omega: You know… there was a time when winning the Royal Rumble meant you got to headline Wrestlemania but I guess maybe I didn’t read the fine print well enough… but as frustrating as having the opportunity to headline my Wrestlemania debut taken away from me by some bureaucratic puffery is, losing your championship and your Wrestlemania debut is far worse.

Chris Jericho: Yeah, I guess losing to The Miz wasn't part of the plan when you signed for EBWF, huh? Your first World Title defence, on the grandest stage of them all, and you're beaten by a reality star turned pro wrestler. You've wrestled a blow-up doll and a nine-year-old girl, but surely that was the most embarrassing moment of your career?

Kenny Omega: You know The Miz is just lucky that I was pulled off of him last week and that he isn’t here tonight, or I would’ve finished the job. The Miz can’t hold a candle to me or that nine-year old girl!

Jericho smirked.

Chris Jericho: Well I'm sure beating up Miz last week felt like a retribution of sorts. I've beaten up The Miz before, I know how satisfying it can be. But the fact remains, you're no longer the World Champion. Doesn't that eat away at you?

Kenny Omega: Eat away at me? Nah… What’s eating away at me is the fact that I have to wait until Aftermath to regain my championship and have people like these idiotic fans think that for one second, someone like the Miz might be better than me.

Chris Jericho: And what makes you so confident, Kenny? Miz beat you at Wrestlemania, how do you know he won't beat you again?

Kenny Omega: I have one loss during my time in the EBWF and I have beaten everyone else that has come against me in my career. I beat 30 other men to win my championship and then I beat CM Punk to prove that beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I am the Best Wrestler in the World today!

Jericho laughed, and shook his head.

Chris Jericho: Excuse me? The best wrestler in the world? Kenny, you're not even the best wrestler from Winnipeg. While you were in New Japan, trying and failing to become the IWGP Heavyweight Champion, I was in EBWF, breaking records and becoming the first and only ten-time EBWF World Champion.

Kenny Omega: Ten-time champion Chris? That just means you lost the championship ten times!

Chris Jericho: Wow, that's rich coming from the guy who beat up an old man to steal a spot in the Rumble, then lost the World Title in his first defence! There's a reason you weren't in the main event of Wrestlemania, Kenny. It's because you're not as good as you think you are. You're not the top guy, Kenny... and you never will be!

Omega snapped, charging at Jericho and tackling him through his chair. He landed on top of Jericho and began pummelling him with a barrage of fists. Omega stood up and grabbed the chair he had been sitting in and began beating Jericho with it mercilessly, before a number of referees and security came to pull Omega off him. As Jericho was being helped out of the Ring, Omega broke free from the crowd holding him back and began destroying the set of the Highlight Reel, before diving off the top rope onto the crowd of people helping Jericho to the back. Omega was pulled off of Jericho once more and held back against the apron of the ring, panting like a wild man as Warfare went off the air.
