The EBWF Universe settled down as the show continued, but before they could get comfortable, “More Than One Man” blasted onto the sound system. Heath Slater came quickly out of the back and jumped out on the stage. He let out a loud yell as he stood in front of the EBWF Universe. After a short while, Slater walked down to the ring and rolled in under the bottom rope. He jumped to his feet and strumbed at his waist and twisted his hips. He laughed and walked over to Christy and took the microphone from her.
Heath Slater: ”YYYYEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!”
He screamed out once more as the EBWF Universe cheered out for the former EBWF Tag-Team Champion.
Heath Slater: ”WoooOOooooooOOOOoooOOOo!!! Heath Slater is in the house… KANSAS CITY!!!!”
He screeched as the crowd gave another pop.
Heath Slater: ”Listen up.. Everyone thought that I would be knocked out after the first round of this tournament, including The Riddler last week. But you people believe in me. Beulah believed in me. My eight kids believe in me. And that’s all I needed because guess what…
I DID IT!!!
I advanced past the first round and here I am. I’m safely in the second round of this tournament and honestly, I can see Buckingham Palace right now. I can see Roscoe marching with the Royal Guard. Ashley trying on all her royal gowns. Leroy jumping on all the beds in the thousand rooms. All the kids running around and making the palace lively again.”
The crowd laughed as Heath smirked.
Heath Slater: ”Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. I’ve got to stay focus in this tournament. I can’t let Beulah and the kids down. I can’t get knocked out of this tournament because I have my head in the future.
Tonight, I square off against a man who can’t speak, but he’s still making his debut here in EBWF. I go up against Andrade Cien Almas. Now, if Andrade completes at the level his little mouth piece Zelina Vega talks, I could be in some real trouble here.
In all seriousness though, Andrade, tonight you’re not going to be able to use your little mouth piece to advance in this tournament. You probably don’t know how this whole thing works, seeing as you got a bye in the first round. But you don’t advance to the next round by have your woman talk for you. If that was the case, then I would bring Beulah along for all my matches. Now that woman can talk.”
Slater raised his eyebrows as he paused for a second.
Heath Slater: ”Tonight, there’s no byes. There’s no hiding behind women. Tonight you’re going to have to step inside this EBWF ring for the first time and show why Wes Ikeda and Jim Ross decided to sign you. You’re going to have to prove to the EBWF Universe that you’re as talented as Zelina claims you to be. You’re going to have to come out to this ring and you’re going to have to fill your own shoes. The shoes that Zelina Vega has made for you.
And if you fail tonight. If you fail to live up to the hype that Zelina has brought for you… You’re going to rethink why you’re here. You’re going to have to rethink your alliance with Zelina and Charlotte.
When you fail tonight Andrade, you’re going to have to take a step back. You’re going to have to learn from your mistakes, get into line, and work your way to the top. You won’t have the free ride to the top that the King of the Ring Tournament gives you. Instead, you will have to work from the ground up. You will have to actually prove yourself, not just get lucky by getting a bye all the way to the top.”
Heath paused for a second as he thought his next words.
Heath Slater: ”Now, I might have gotten a little ahead of myself by saying that you were going to fail tonight. Who knows, I might fail. You might prove Zelina’s words right and you might be the next star of EBWF. But why?
Why are you doing it? Why are you in this tournament? Why are you trying to become King of the Ring?
Do you know the answer to any of those questions? I do. I know why I’m here fighting for the King of the Ring.
I’m here because I need to be here. I’m here because I wasn’t here, I would sitting back at the mobile home park and I would be waiting for that next record company to call and offer me another cd deal. I would be waiting on Hollywood to call for my next major role. But waiting don’t put food in the cabinets. Waiting doesn’t give Brandy Lynn that flannel prom dress she’s had her eyes on.”
He paused and looked at the crowd.
Heath Slater: ”Yes, I know, prom was weeks ago for most, but see, the ten members of the Slater Clan, they’re all home schooled so our schedule is a little bit different than most.
So believe me Andrade, tonight, I want to wrap this up quickly so I can get back home and see Brandy Lynn off on her big night. I told Roscoe that he needs to be on time when he picks her up, I don’t want her to miss a minute of her prom.
But again, that is what I’m fighting for Andrade. I’m fighting to give my family the life they deserve. I’m fighting to give my family everything their hearts desire, and to do that, I need this job. So I need this King of the Ring Tournament. Then, when I advance further and further into the tournament, I will get closer to becoming King of the Ring. And once I’m King, and the whole Slater Clan is EBWF Royalty. We can go anywhere. We can do anything. We can move out of the mobile home back for good because we’ll be living with the majestic of this World. We’ll be living in BUCKINGHAM!!!
BAAAAYYYYYYY BAAAAYY!!!!”
He screamed out again and lifted the microphone in the air. The Universe cheered out once more.
Heath Slater: ”Now Andrade, unless you think that Zelina can get the job done better than you, why don’t you step out from her shadow and come on down here to this ring so that we can get this started. I can wait all night, but I already told why I don’t want to. So it’s time for you to put up or have Zelina shut up because it’s time for you to prove yourself.
And look at me, I’m Heath Slater. Everyone in that back thinks that I’m a joke. So if you come out here unprepared and you lose to me, which I’m going to give it my all to make sure that happens. But when it happens, what do you think losing to me will do to you.
A man, who can’t speak. Who’s woman says everything for him. A man who can’t beat the joke of EBWF. Why is this man even here?
That will be the question that you career is going to be plagued with after I beat you tonight. That’s the question that you will tear yourself up over the next few weeks. All the while, I will continue on in the tournament. I will continue to support my family. And eventually, I will join the Kings of Queens of yesteryear and I will become, royalty.”
Slater lowered the microphone before he walked it back over to Christy. She took the microphone back as Slater turned and walked to his corner and waited.
