I Am Legend

The scene opened with a television screen showing footage from Warfare. The footage recapped the back and forth between Chris Jericho and The Miz, setting up their Intercontinental Title match at Summerslam. The camera panned out, revealing Chris Jericho in his magnificent LED jacket. Jericho was watching the footage and as the segment drew to a close, Jericho turned to face the camera and began to speak.
Chris Jericho: The EBWF's 11th anniversary is just around the corner and I am the only remaining superstar to have been in EBWF since day one. I have spent more than half of my professional wrestling career wrestling for the EBWF; I have been part of this company longer than Wes Ikeda himself. To rehash an old catchphrase of mine, I am a larger than life living legend. And this is what I'm reduced to... a wannabe who thinks he's something special challenges me and instead of getting a shot at the World Title, I have to settle for second best. I'm taking on The Miz for the Intercontinental Title, a belt that I haven't cared about since I last held it back in 2007. The only reason I am even competing tonight is because I have the satisfaction of knowing that when I beat The Miz, I will be consigning him to a lifetime of mediocrity. I challenged The Miz to put his money where his mouth is and he went above and beyond the call of duty. When I beat The Miz tonight, he will never again be allowed to compete for the EBWF World Title... all because he has more arrogance than sense.
Jericho laughed. Clearly, the thought of Miz never getting another shot at the World Title amused him. When he had finished laughing to himself, Jericho continued to speak.
Chris Jericho: Are you really so confident in your ability, Miz? Are you so sure of yourself that you find the thought of me beating you inconceivable? Or did I simply put you on the spot and force you into a corner? Either way, you're a fool. Let's look at the facts here, Mike. You caught everyone by surprise when you beat Brian Kendrick for the World Title at the Royal Rumble, but the so-called "era of awesome" was short-lived. You lost the title to AJ Styles, who then went one better and ran you out of the company. You've been back a few weeks and after failing to win the World Title for a second time, you settled for the Intercontinental Title instead. You want to give the belt some meaning, make it seem like it's more than just a belt for wannabe World Champions... but you know that beating the likes of Christian and Mr. Anderson won't impress anyone. You're almost out of ideas when you remember that there's an EBWF Superstar you've never faced before; an old-timer whose name still has prestige. You call me out and as Wes Ikeda oh-so-wittingly tweeted, I just happened to be back from a Fozzy tour and for the first time in weeks, I was actually in the arena. Can you imagine how stupid you would have looked calling me out if I hadn't been in New Orleans on Monday? It would have been hilarious. You tell yourself that a guy who "shows up every few months and loses" is beatable and to convince yours truly to "show up and lose" once more, you put everything on the line. But what you're forgetting, Miz, is that less than a year ago I was the EBWF World Champion. And the only reason I'm challenging you tonight instead of Cody Rhodes is because when I lost the World Title to Brian Kendrick, I took a step back. I focused on my music, became something of a sleeping dragon as far as wrestling was concerned. And then Wes Ikeda made one too many snide remarks at the Slammies. He made me feel like a joke and so I turned on him and everyone else who didn't show me the respect I deserve. I stopped thinking about the World Title, I wasn't even thinking about Fozzy... I just wanted to hit Wes Ikeda where it hurts. I'm still waiting for a match with Wes, and when I get that match, it will be one for the ages. Because while I no longer care for Wes Ikeda, I know that inside the squared circle, he can still put up a fight. I don't feel the same way about you, Miz. The only reason you're a threat to anybody is because you constantly surround yourself with allies. When you beat Brian Kendrick at the Royal Rumble, you had the Trilogy. Now you're challenging me with Anderson, Paul Heyman and a couple of divas whose names I forget in your corner. Do you want to impress me, Miz? Do you want to convince the EBWF fans and your fellow EBWF superstars that you're more than a one-time wonder? If you want to do that, Miz, come to the ring on your own tonight. I don't have anyone in my corner and that's the way I like it. Face me one on one without anyone to help you and see if you can beat me then. If you can, I'll shake your hand after we've walked through the curtain. I might even buy you a beer and you might just start to be considered as something special. But if you beat me with the help of your latest alliance, it doesn't mean a thing. And if I beat you even though you have Heyman and Anderson in your corner, that means you're even more of a joke than everyone thought.
Jericho was no longer even close to laughing. He had a stern expression on his face and a fire in his eyes.
Chris Jericho: I am a legend, Miz. No one whose opinion is worth anything would disagree with me on that and despite the occasional blip I have in my career, I am what you aspire to be. I can even see a little of myself in you, because when hold a microphone to your mouth and talk, I can hear the same self-belief that I have in myself. The difference is, I'm more entertaining on the mic. I'm also far better in the ring and if you don't believe me on that one, I'll show you tonight. Say goodbye to your Intercontinental Title, Miz... and say goodbye to another chance at being World Champion. Because tonight, I'm going to show you, Wes and everyone else why I. Am. Legend.
Jericho glared into the camera as the scene faded.
