EBWF.COM/YOUTUBE INTERVIEW

Renee Young straightens her outfit, brushes her hair off of her face and lifts up her microphone as the director counts her in.

Renee: Ladies and gentlemen, my guest at this time, Gateway Champion Dalton Castle.

Dalton steps into frame with a birdlike screech, flanked by Boys carrying the Gateway Title in its mahogany case.

Dalton: Salutations, NayNay. And salutations EBWF Multiverse. It's your Party Peacock, Dalty Double-Slammy, gracing your screen once again, you lucky lucky bitches. Dalton Castle, DARLING OF THE HOUSE SHOW CIRCUIT, is returning to live television, what could the occasion BE?

Renee: That's right, for those who haven't been following the results of our live tour events, Dalton, you have been running an Open Challenge for the Gateway Championship, and many luminaries of the wrestling world have taken up your offer.

Dalton: That is CORRECT, Renee. I've been defending this belt all over this great land, traveling every highway, byway, and ribbon of skyway, taking on the best that independent wrestling has to offer. I said that this Gateway title makes me the Gatekeeper, and if anyone beats me in that open challenge, they deserve to be fast-tracked right into EBWF. But all these months later, whether they're high fliers like ACH, dastardly heels like MJF, or monsters like PCO, they've all been KTFO. I've been upholding the honor of this title, night in and night out.

But when the lights shine their brightest, NayNay, your Party Peacock has stumbled. That isn't news to anyone, that red broadcasting light has been my damn KRYPTONITE, Renee. I've put on a show, and I've left my heart in that ring every time, but I've come up short so many times recently. So now I finally get the call that I get to defend my beloved Gateway title onscreen for the first time in I don't know how long, I mean I could look it up but it's late and I have things to do, you know? But it's been awhile. And on the one hand, I am thrilled to get to show off my precious in front of the world but on the other? I'm terrified, Renee, because bad things happen when that camera turns on. So I'm going in there, and I'm bringing both my fists and all these delicious abdominals, but I'm going to be honest. If you get a boner for title changes, you're probably at half-mast already, you little weirdo.

Renee: Yes, you will be defending the title this evening, and your opponent, the man who won the number one contendership battle royal, Jimmy Havok.

Dalton: You are correct, my dear Renee, I face Jimmy Havok for the first time EVER on Warfare. The first man to ever hold this very belt, a man who knows what it stands for and what it takes to keep it. A man who had to wear a suit for a few weeks and now he's really angry about it. A DEATH MATCH wrestler, Renee. Look at this handsome face, do you think it has ever been put into a death match? I will answer for you, it has NOT. Jimmy Havok has put his body through pain that only a mother could claim to match, and even then probably only one who had some rippage, this is a thing that happens, Renee, it's a miracle and it's horrifying, send your mother some flowers.

Jimmy Havok has made himself into a tentpole of this federation through perseverance and a sheer unwillingness to just fuck OFF already. So maybe he knows something, right? Maybe he knows what he's talking about, maybe he's got me pegged, huh? I'm just a flashy entrance and some sequins, he's the real threat because he can't pull off colors. I have friends and followers, he's the real man because he goes alone, I'm a coward because I want to build pride in this belt, he's the true superstar because he'd cash it in at the first opportunity, have I covered it all? All the insights into my soul that this scrawny little SCAR-COLLECTOR has made recently?

Dalton faces the camera.

Dalton: James, can I call you James, oh I can't, too bad, fuck you, James. I get it. You fight for the outcasts, yeah, you fight for those people shunned by society, the people who live in the darkness, but you don't get me, see...I do the same thing. I fight for the weirdos, I fight for those who aren't afraid to be a little different, but the difference, the REAL difference between us, is that I face that same darkness you do, I stare into that same abyss and I shine a sparkly green light right through the fucker so they have something to walk by. These Boys aren't my hired goons and they aren't my fan club, they are wayward souls, they are rescue dogs, they are little James Havoks who needed someone to fight for them, who needed someone to fight darkness with light.

You are one hell of a fighter, Havok, but never forget that I am one HELL of a wrestler. Once the sparkle fades away, that is what you are in the ring with, and that's who has been defending this title against the best in the goddamn world night in and night out. You want to bring the rain, I don't give one flying shit, I'm bringing wrestling, heart and nuts, James, and you're going to have to beat all three to take this title back.

Biggest night of our careers, you say? Well, then we better make it a goddamn good one.

The camera switches off. Dalton turns to Renee.

Dalton: Hope my mom doesn't watch that one, or my mouth is getting the fucking soap.
