Resurgence

JANUARY 27, 2019

Following the ending result of the 2019 Women’s Royal Rumble, Renee Young had caught up with the returning Torrie Wilson backstage. The camera met them just as they had embraced each other in a hug. Despite not being unsuccessful in capturing the Women’s Championship, Torrie had a smile on her face.[/color]

RENEE YOUNG
“Number 6 entry spot, 3 eliminations, ‘you still got it’ chants, Torrie, you returned to in-ring competition tonight in the Women’s Royal Rumble. Even though you’re not holding the EBWF Women’s Championship right now, you definitely came back with a bang, and from what I’m seeing, seem to be in pretty good spirits. How did it feel to be back out there competing in an EBWF ring again?”

TORRIE WILSON
“I definitely am. It felt so amazing, I’m almost at a loss for words. Right before I walked out, my heart was beating so fast, I swear you could have seen it. I hadn’t been that nervous in a long time, but as soon as my music hit and I heard the crowd’s reaction, all of that went away. The part of me that I haven’t tapped into in almost 3 years just came back to life in an instant. And now that it’s all over, I realize how much I missed it!”

RENEE YOUNG
“Well, in the midst of all the emotion, you made it down to the final 4 after crossing paths with several women that you have some prior history with, as well as some you met for the first time. Ultimately it was a shot with the title by now former Women’s Champion, Zahra Schreiber, that led to your elimination. What was it like mixing it up with the current women’s division? And do you have any words for Zahra specifically?”

TORRIE WILSON
“I’ve always been a fan of the women in EBWF, even when I was one of them. The caliber of talent is incredible, just as it has been for years, so I’m really glad I got to come back and dive back in again. It was great to be in there with some of my friends and favorite opponents like Trish and Velvet, and I was even happy to see the last Mean Girl standing, Summer Rae, as crazy as it sounds. And I certainly didn’t expect any of the girls to take it easy on me, but I also wasn’t expecting any super foul play like Zahra brought to the table. Now I see why she had such a target on her back. Of course, I wish I wasn’t so unceremoniously knocked out of the match, but in the end, karma bit her right back, so I’ll try not to be too bitter about it. If I ever come back though, she better watch her back!”

Torrie made sure to look to the camera, as if sending that message directly to Zahra herself.

RENEE YOUNG
“Since you mentioned it, and you can clearly still go in the ring, what are the chances we’ll see you back in active competition here in EBWF?”

TORRIE WILSON
“I’d say the chances are pretty high. I was so worried that I wouldn’t deliver out there like I used to, but now I’m pretty confident that I haven’t completely lost my touch. Imagine if I had more than 2 weeks to prepare!”

RENEE YOUNG
“Well, Torrie, I think I speak for all of the EBWF Universe when I say that it was truly awesome to see you back in the ring tonight, and we’d welcome you back with open arms whether you come back for a week, a month, or however long you decide.”

The two share a laugh before Torrie thanks Renee for having her and heads off to freshen up for the rest of the night.
