In a statement issued by EBWF today, Kaientai (Taka Michinoku and Sho Funaki) have officially retired from professional wrestling. The pair were involved in a story line in which they managed diva Layla El, but after the news of Sho Funaki being diagnosed with the early stages of Parkinson's Disease, both men have decided that it was time to hang up the boots. "We want to thank both Sho and Taka for all they've done here in the EBWF, they are both the ultimate professionals, and will be sorely missed. The entire EBWF family sends their best wishes and support to Sho, as he deals with his illness. They are two guys I would do anything for, and would hope they would never be afraid to ask," said EBWF Chairman Wes Ikeda when asked for a comment on the situation.
No telling what this means for Diva Layla El, but real life boyfriend Mike Mizanin's face turn could point to an on screen reunion for the couple, that are reportedly still going strong, despite gossip rumors of a possible split last month.
