The scene opens up to Becky sitting in her locker room. She has just finished watching an old video of Torrie Wilson’s matches. Although Torrie is a very well decorated athlete, she is still no match for The Man, not many are. Some might say that I am over confident, or cocky even. I feel that my career speaks for itself. Lynch pushes play on the DVD player, as she continues to watch Torrie’s matches, she smiles.
The Man is smiling because after watching several matches, she has realized that her opponent is beatable. The sound of a cell phone ringing can be heard. Becky fumbles around in her gym bag until she finds her phone,
“Hello,” Becky says.
“Becky it’s your mother.”
“Hi Mum..”
“I didn’t call for small talk Becky, Your father is in the hospital,” Says her mom.
“What? How, Why?” Asks Becky.
“He fell off the ladder while he was cleaning the gutters,” her mom informs her.
“How bad is it? Do I need to come home?” Lynch asks.
“No, not as of now, he is is x ray right now, they are not sure how bad it is yet.” Replies her mom.
“Well did they say how bad it might be? I think I should come home Mum.” Becky says with concern in her voice.
“No you have your match to think about, I will let you know if it gets to the point where I need you home. Just focus on your match. I just wanted you to know what happened.” Her mom tells her.
“It’s going to be hard to concentrate now, all I’m going to be thinking about is Dad.” Lynch tells her Mom.
“I know sweetie, but you do need to focus, cause I know you can win.” Mom says. “I’m going to let you go honey, I need to call your brother.” her mom replies.
“Okay Mum, please keep me informed cause I will come straight home.” Lynch tells her mom.
“I will dear, bye honey.” says mom
“Bye Mum.”
Becky hangs up the phone, and tries to refocus her attention to her upcoming match. She continues to watch old match tapes until she just can’t take it anymore. She shuts off the t.v.
Lynch: “Bottom line,” she says to herself; “I will beat Torrie. It isn’t just because I can, but because I have to. I will show her who the most dominant woman in the locker room is. I will show her why I have earned the name The Man. After Torrie taps out to my Dis-Arm-Her my hand will be raised in victory. Then Torrie will know.”
Scene fades to black.
