Warfare was a few minutes from going on air when the video went live on EBWF.net. CM Punk was sitting backwards in a steel chair with his arms wrapped around the back of the chair. He was wearing the latest CM Punk shirt from the EBWF store, a white t-shirt with a cartoon depiction of Punk in a scene inspired by the G.I. Joe cartoons of the 80s. He slid the chair forward causing a loud racket.

CM Punk: Wouldn’t you know, it’s everyone’s favorite wrestler CM PUNK back on the company website. I bet you would all be surprised but I’ve seen the numbers and I’m the most watched video from the past week. Oh yeah, the Universe has been eating up that backstage assault on Wes Ikeda and I have to admit it felt soooooooo good.

Punk rocked back in the chair to deliver the last word of the sentence. When he rolled forward he was laughing.

CM Punk: So good! What did I learn from the situation? Well, to be honest I learned that beating people up gets you main event matches but getting beat up gets you a title shot! Look at me, kick the bosses ass and now I’m main eventing Warfare. Miz kicks AJ’s ass and now he’s got a second title shot he didn’t earn at Summerslam! Funny how the world turns right? Funny? Let’s get real. Sit back, get comfortable because I’m about to break the fourth wall and shatter the foundation of the EBWF.

Punk grabbed hold of the camera and pulled it in like a selfie shot.

CM Punk: The reason Styles keeps getting this big marquee matches is because Wes doesn’t want to climb in the ring with him. Yep! AJ has been BEGGING to go one on one with the CEO for as long as anyone cares to remember AJ. The marks are going to tell you it's because Styles moves merch but he doesn’t. The only people buying a Styles shirt are midwest soccer moms and they are only doing that because they’re jealous of his flowing locks. Nope, I move more merch than AJ and I haven’t actively wrestled in….

Punk started counting silently and pointing to his fingers. When he got to the fifth finger he shrugged his shoulders.

CM Punk: I don’t know. I don’t keep track of things like that. I show up, I do my job and I get paid. Royalties and appearance fees! I move more merch than AJ and I’m not getting those high profile title shots because I’m also not running around on national television getting my head kicked in by Miz and his merry band of idiots. Soooooo…. Let’s get to brass tacks. I WANT A HIGH PROFILE MATCH. But, I’m not going to get my head kicked in to get it. WES. Pal. Let’s have a chat. I’m thinking you’ve got two options on your hands. One. We make that Triple Threat Main Event into a Four Corners Match and your old pal Punker gets the title shot he deserves for kicking YOUR head in. Or. Or. Or. Two. Summerslam. You don’t cut and run like you do anytime you hear Styles is looking for you. Instead you lace up those boots you haven’t put on since Wrestlemania last year and you bring yourself down to the ring and we make Summerslam the EVENT OF THE SUMMER by giving them a once in a lifetime match. CM Punk verses Wes Ikeda.

Punk covered his mouth in feigned surprise. His eyes were wide and he glanced back and forth. Finally he cut in with a chuckle.

CM Punk: You’ve got my number Wes, shoot me a text and let’s get the paperwork signed. Once in a lifetime. DREAM MATCH. Tonight could have been one of those. AJ Styles and CM Punk. We could have drawn this out for months, aimed for six events away and put butts in the seats. Instead we’re getting a rushed main event that means nothing. Means nothing because AJ is nothing. You think anyone is coming to see AJ Styles at Summerslam? They’re not. Just take a look at those King of the Ring numbers. Get Wes to go public with streaming drop off rates. Viewership takes a nosedive when AJ Styles climbs in the ring. Monday night I’m going to carry the show and the match to its conclusion. Might be the first time in years a Styles segment doesn’t have double digit drop offs! You’re welcome buddy! That’s all I’ve got to say.

CM Punk pushed the chair forward and stood up with a chuckle. He walked past the camera and the video ended.
