The Demon Seated

Post by Matt »

The Ford Idaho Center
Nampa, Idaho
Friday 19th February

Finn, wearing a dark blue suit is sat in the locker room watching The Guerrillas of Destiny lace up their boots, looking on, with pride and excitement he smiled. They were wrestling in a house show, their first non televised matchup. Finn was excited for them both and he smiled as they went out there and faced some local talent from the North East.

Finn walked to the gorilla position and watched it on the monitor. The Guerrillas of Destiny won their first match and the crowd really enjoyed it. They played to the crowd a little before the losers of the match walked through the curtain.

Finn Bálor: Hey guys, good showing out there. Keep it up, alright, don’t let your head drop. Okay. Have a good night.

He said as he patted them on their back as they were on their way to get changed and leave the arena. After Guerrillas of Destiny stopped pandering to the crowd and walked back through the curtain they were met with a huge hug from Finn, embracing them into a close group hug.

Finn Bálor: Phenomenal.

Tama Tonga: Wrong catchphrase.

He joked as they all laughed.

Finn Bálor: Honestly though, guys, how you didn’t get your Warfare debut yet is beyond me.

Tanga Loa: Finn, we don’t need to show our colours yet, you hear me. This is your time to shine, and Raven’s. The Bálor Club is being represented and that is all that matters to us. We didn’t come here to join the tag team division, we came here to back you up against The Coalition and we just so happened to fall into the Tag division but you don’t need to worry about us, we’ll get our shot eventually.

Tama Tonga: ...and y’know Finn. When all is said and done, you’re unbeaten in the EBWF so far, this is about you, buddy. You are in a tournament for the Gateway Championship, you’re on the road to success my friend, and we know that you’re gonna make it to the end of that road and be there to lift the title above your head at the finish line.

Finn Bálor: I appreciate you guys, but trust me, it should be you two out there on Monday facing Paul London and Jungle Boy, y’know, but hey, maybe you’re too good, maybe you’re too experienced, hey what’s better than having a team debut by having them face another debut team, The Bálor Club.

Tanga Loa: I get it Finn, you’re tough, you’re like a chameleon, you adapt to your surroundings and that’s what we admire about you. With the tag team match you’re up against the two of them but you’re teaming with Raven, now we all admire Raven, but we haven’t been together long. What’s your thoughts on this?

Finn Bálor: You’re right, we haven’t been together long, but us two teaming with each other within fourteen days of being together as a group, it’ll be a real test of strength, of solidarity, a show of force that we as a duo and The a Bálor Club is more than just us four, but it’s a community of people who have been shat on their whole life and are now learning that our destiny is something we can control if we only allow it.

Finn put his arms around the two and whispered to them. Finn spoke to the camera operators and then moved along to the sound and lighting technician before walking out to the ramp

An hour later a video is released to EBWF social media, the video pans onto a empty ring, in an empty arena, desolate and quiet, not even a whisper is heard, the video pans to the ramp as the arena shuts off its lights, it’s dark, feeling like it’s darker than the abyss, the intro to Finn Bálor’s entrance theme plays and The Bálor Club video plays on the screen before fog covers the entire ramp.

The music stops, the video stops and the fog is still light up, travelling through the arena, we watch as the fog makes its way to the nosebleeds at the top of the empty arena, surrounded by fog a spotlight moves and positions itself on top of a lonely Finn Bálor at the highest point of the arena covered in fog. The video zooms into him, holding a microphone and wearing his custom Bálor Club jacket.

Finn’s face is in full view now, zoomed in and looking deep into the camera, he smiles.

Finn Bálor: Look at me mum, I’m on top of the world.

Finn laughs.

Finn Bálor: I lied, I’m in Idaho, which isn’t the worst place I’ve been, trust me. This Monday, myself and my stablemate, my new found friend Raven will be facing the new team of Jungle Boy and Paul London in what people writing for the dirt sheets are calling a start to the Tag Team revolution in EBWF. We all know, there are six championships in the EBWF, the Breakout Championship, the Gateway Championship, The Tag Team Championship, the Women’s Championship and the EBWF World Championship. Randy Orton holds two of them, Edge a couple of weeks ago won the Royal Rumble and after Wrestlemania, he, may hold two of them. The thing is, I think although they’re incredible together, the time has come for them to pass the torch, don’t you think?

Finn coughs to clear his throat before he continues.

Finn Bálor: I know the EBWF big wigs are watching this at home, in the comfort of their living rooms, while the rest of us are out here working, which I don’t mind doing for a matter of fact, the sheer enjoyment I get out of wrestling on Mondays you wouldn’t believe and I’m not being sarcastic when I say that. Please, take note. The Guerrillas of Destiny are internationally known, they have won the NJPW World Tag Championships more times than anyone in New Japan history, do you understand, they’re ready for the big time, they’re ready to do what I am doing in the singles competition and takeover. The Bálor Club are ready to showcase our right to be here.

Finn nodded and clicked his neck and swallowed before going back to talking.

Finn Bálor: That brings me back to Monday. You see, Raven and I are two peas in a pod, we see the same things, we think so similarly you’d think I was his child, but alas, I am not, all I am is the leader of a club he was destined to be a part of. With Raven’s intelligence, The Guerrillas of Destiny’s strength and my fortitude we are the perfect recipe for success.

Finn took a sip of his water and picked the mic back up.

Finn Bálor: We face off against Paul London and Jungle Boy. Paul, I appreciate the compliments about my body, it would probably be more appreciated if the compliments weren’t coming from a man with such a pornstar name. Like, come on, Paul, Jungle Boy is handsome as hell buddy, you’re gonna call me hot and team up with him, you’re suffering from a deep complex which needs to be seen to. All jokes aside Paul, you’re a person I’ve admired for a long time, your charismatic personality and your in ring behaviour has helped me mould into the man I am today.

Finn Bálor: The problem with that though is I have studied you for years, your move set is embedded into my brain, and I can’t talk for Raven but I know for a fact that you and I will bring the house down, which is not what you want for an opening match. Listen, we’re a debut team and so are you, the match isn’t going to be Match of the Year, we all know that, but we all know, we will put on one hell of a show no doubt.

Finn Bálor: Jungle Boy, you remind me of a younger version of myself, committed, enigmatic, ferocious and although you may be Paul London’s protégé, I am learning from the darkness and the systematic enigma which is Raven.

Finn motioned for the camera to zoom in closer.

Finn Bálor: So listen here, for I will say this once and only once. To step inside the ring with The Bálor Club is like stepping into the ring with darkness itself, pulling you in, deeper and with more pressure than you’ve ever experienced. Dominating your core being with an undeniable amount of strength and courage, pulling you from the light that you know all too well, making you second guess every move you make. You may think a step ahead but we will think three, four steps ahead. Every thought you have we will counter it, we will abolish it, we will make you regret ever stepping foot inside the steel doors that is EBWF. The Bálor Club doesn’t deal with those old adages from the old days of heel and face, we don’t deal with assumptions and if, buts and maybes we deal in absolutes. The fact is, The Bálor Club is here, in EBWF to stay and takeover. The partnership between myself The Prince of Darkness, my friends Guerrillas of Destiny and the Extreme Innovator Raven will only get stronger as the weeks go and on and on, and we will dominate, we will conquer, we will hold championship upon championship and if people want to step in our way, for example, The Coalition, Randy Orton and Edge, AJ Styles even Wes Ikeda, we will not hesitate to cull you from our path. No one is immune to the virus of the darkness seeping throughout the EBWF spread only by The Bálor Club. Quote The Bálor Club Nevermore…

The lights shut off and the fog reappears. The video ends.
