Tick Tock

The scene opened in Paul London's lab. Paul was sat in front of his computer, watching a digital clock. As the clock continued ticking, Paul sighed.

Paul London: You know, I really don't understand why kids these days are so obsessed with tick tocks. Most clocks these days neither tick nor tock. But still, time moves forward. There are few people who have been lucky enough to go back in time, but those who have will know that history has a habit of repeating himself. Sometimes you don't have to look too far back to see that pattern. Take The Miz, for example. For the last ten years, he's been following the same cycle. It goes something like this... first, he starts mouthing off, acting cocky, making enemies. Next, he finds a couple of like-minded individuals, forms a stable, gives it some imaginative name like "Trilogy" or "Sequel". Then things start to go wrong, and the stable disbands. After that, Miz decides he needs a character change to keep things fresh. So he decides to try and be one of the good guys. Does his best impression of a comedian, makes the fans laugh so they cheer him. But after a while, that starts to go wrong too. Miz gets frustrated, shows his true colours, starts winning again and gets cocky. And the cycle restarts, all over again.

London smirked, turned to his computer and opened a picture of The Miz and The Rock.

Paul London: Do you remember last year when Miz was trying to buddy up to The Rock? I think that was him trying to break the cycle. He wanted to form a stable with The Rock, but The Rock works alone. So the stable was, in effect, disbanded before it started. Miz went to the next stage, turned "bad", and now he's the Gateway Champion. The only question is, who will he try and form a stable with next? It's been a few years since he tried to align with AJ Styles, hasn't it?

London winked, as if he knew what was coming.

Paul London: Consider this a warning, Miz. I'm always going to be one step ahead of you. And with the likes of Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy in my corner, I can assure you that you don't want to mess with me. The clock is ticking, Miz... and your time as a champion is coming to an end.

London mouthed the words "tick tock" as the scene came to a close.
