New Start

Curt Hawkins paced his locker room back and forth. He was already dressed in his ring gear with a black, sleeveless leather, hood/vest combination on over it. The former minion of Kane seemed to be very anxious to get the night underway. He ran his hands through his soaking wet hair and pounded a fist into one of his palms. The Coach stood by and was to get whatever may have been on the young superstars mind.
The Coach: "I'm with Curt Hawkins who is set to take on former Breakout Champion Muhammed Hassan tonight. Curt, you're a past Breakout Champion in your own right and we've seen you take a complete 180 in the past month or so."
Curt Hawkins: "Yeah. I amazing what finding a bar of soap will do for you."
Hawkins grinned, referencing his former ragged appearance while serving under The Big Red Machine.
The Coach: "And it appears as though you've once again become friends with your former enemies, namely Zack Ryder and Trent Barreta."
Curt Hawkins: "That's right. We're all cool now and it feels good to be on the same page with those two again. We all came up together in this business and I'm happy to be working alongside them."
The Coach: "Was there some trust issues that came along with this? I don't want to bring up past news but you were involved in some heinous acts not too long ago."
The New York native nodded solemnly. He couldn't deny that he had been a massive prick since entering the EBWF.
Curt Hawkins: "The three of us had a very long conversation. I had a lot of apologizing to do and a lot of pride to suck up. I did do some pretty messed up things. I let jealousy take me over. I was willing to do anything, everyone saw it. I was listening to Kane and attacking guys for no reason."
He shook his head when he thought about those, literally, dark times. And anything involving Kane was always pitch black.
Curt Hawkins: "The guy messed with my head. Told everything I wanted to hear. I was desperate for success. I definitely hit rock bottom and I can't blame anyone but myself. And that's why I'm looking to make a new start."
The Coach: "And you've made this clear by helping out your former tag team partner Zack Ryder. You saved him from attacks by Dean Ambrose and your opponent tonight Muhammed Hassan."
Curt Hawkins: "Exactly. I'm not going to let anyone put their hands on my friends without going through me first. When Hassan tried it I dropped his little pal Daivari straight on his face and he high-tailed it. Well, he's face to face with me tonight and there isn't anywhere for him to run. He's got pay back coming his way and I'll be happy to serve it to him. And even he does decide to run again, I have no problem at all with chasing him down. In fact, I'm looking forward to it. He won't get away this time."
The Coach: "With that said, do you believe that the EBWF fans are going to be able to trust you?"
Hawkins held up his hands in innocence.
Curt Hawkins: "I'm not asking for the fans to forget what I did. I'm just looking for a second chance. Let them judge for themselves if I've become a different person. That's going to take time. I don't expect them to support me one hundred percent. Right now, I'm concentrating on Hassan and Daivari. Hassan couldn't take loss to Zack like a man and he's going to find out that there are consequences for his actions. And, hey, if Daivari has a problem I don't mind kicking him around again. I feel like a new man, Coach. I can't wait to go out there with a clear head and show what I'm capable of."
The Coach nodded and was ready to conclude the interview when another person slipped into the camera's view. A small diva. Trent's girlfriend A.J. Lee. She stood quietly, her hands folded behind her back, looking up at Curt. Hawkins hadn't really had a chance to speak with her yet. He did remember the time he menacingly stalked her in the ring, moments before attacking Trent. Hawkins turned to Coach.
Curt Hawkins: "Can you excuse us?"
The Coach: "Sure."
As the announcer departed, Hawkins gave A.J. his full attention.
Curt Hawkins: "A.J., hey, listen.."
A.J. Lee: "Curt.."
The former Women's Champ held a hand to stop him.
A.J. Lee: "You're Trent's friend. I know that being enemies with you tore him up. Please don't do anything to make him think he can't trust you."
Curt Hawkins: "Don't plan on it."
A.J.'s serious look faded and she winked.
A.J. Lee: "Cool. And make sure you mess up Hassan tonight for trying to jump Zack. Got it? That guy's a REAL butt face."
Curt Hawkins: "Yes mam."
Hawkins saluted with two fingers and A.J. skipped her way out of the locker room. Curt took a deep breath and turned his focus back to his match for the evening. A new start wasn't going to come easy but he was prepared to do whatever it took to get one.
