The scene opened with a video package recapping the Bullet Club’s first round King of the Ring matches. First, Tama Tonga was shown getting beat by Christian Cage. Second was Adam Cole losing to the debuting Max Caster. Then the video showed the Young Bucks losing their first round matches – Matt Jackson to Bubba Ray Dudley, and Nick Jackson to Kevin Steen. Finally, the video finished with Hook’s impressive debut victory over Tanga Loa. As the video ended, the camera panned out. Chris Jericho was watching the video on a monitor – from the side of course, the way all wrestlers watch TV. He turned to face the camera and began to speak.
Chris Jericho: One by one, they all fall down. Two months ago, when I was booked to wrestle Prince Devitt, I said that the Bullet Club was failing due to his poor leadership, and the first round of the King of the Ring tournament has proven just how right I was. Bullet Club had six spots in the tournament – which gives them what, an 18% chance of winning? I don’t know, math isn’t my strongest subject, although I’m better at it than Scott Steiner. Anyway, I digress... six chances to advance, and in the first five, they’ve come up short. The Club’s so-called leader, Prince Devitt, is their last chance at glory... if he loses, their time in the tournament is over before the second round, and the Bullet Club can take a month-long vacation. So it’s pretty tough luck for Devitt that he’s up against me, especially since I already beat him. Of course, Devitt did manage to get some revenge thanks to the numbers game...
Jericho turned back to the monitor as another video package played. The video showed Jericho defeating Devitt on the April 4th edition of Warfare, and the four on one assault that took place after the match, when Devitt, Adam Cole and the Young Bucks attacked Jericho and left him laid out in the ring. The video went on to show highlights from the tag match that had taken place two weeks later, when Jericho teamed up with Xavier Woods to take on Devitt and Cole. The video focused on Jericho holding his own against Devitt and Cole while Woods was incapacitated.
Chris Jericho: So there you have it... definitive proof. Devitt can only best me when he’s got a four on one advantage. Even when it’s two on one, he can’t beat me! I heard a rumour that the Bucks have abandoned your club already, Devitt, so what’s it going to be huh? Are you going to have Adam Cole and G.O.D. accompany you to ringside, so they can make sure you get the win? Are you going to get that giant oaf Bad Luck Fale involved too? Bring whoever you want man, I don’t care. Because we both know that as long as it’s one on one, I will beat you. And if the Club get involved, I might still beat you. But if you lose, Devitt... it will be another sign of your failure, and maybe the rest of the Bullet Club will realise they’re better off without you. This is your last chance, Devitt – can you take it?
Smirking, Jericho shook his head, then pointed to himself and yelled “I’m the GOAT!” as the scene drew to a close.
