Scene One: Meet and Greet

The scene was set in Seattle Washington which was the city of the Fanniversary pay per view. There were a lot of high profile matches scheduled to take place at the historic event, including the Path to Glory title match, which featured Evan Bourne taking on the current reigning champion Ted DiBiase Jr. Ted’s long reign as Path to Glory champion was well documented, as he had won the title which led to his second title reign at the Royal Rumble pay per view at the beginning of January. There were a lot going on within the EBWF, including a vicious shooting around the EBWF headquarters that led several people to be seriously injured and even a few tragic deaths led from the shooting. The most notable victim that was fatally wounded was Isabella Ikeda who was the daughter of the owner of EBWF Wes Ikeda. So it was safe to say that all the wrestlers and divas of EBWF would be competing with heavy hearts. The scene was set at a local store in Seattle as the store was holding an autograph signing with various superstars and divas; Evan was one of the many superstars that were taking part in this event as he was seated in a chair behind a table which had all sorts of magazines, pictures and actions figures on them. The store was just about to open to start the autograph signing session as one of the store workers looks at Evan.

Matt Wells (Store Worker)
So, do you think you’re ready for today’s event?

Evan Bourne
I think so; I’ve been to many of these types of things before. Is it expected to be busy?

Matt Wells
I’m sure it will be quite packed in here; it is a Saturday after all.

Evan Bourne
I guess it’s my lucky day! It’s always nice to meet up with fans, although my last autograph signing session was “interesting” to say the least. For instance I had this one guy who---

Just before he could complete his sentence, the store worker had to interrupt him.

Matt Wells
Sorry to cut you short there sir, but it’s just about time for the store to open. Good luck!

Evan nods his head in approval as he looks at the store worker raising the curtain which revealed the front door which was locked but transparent so you could see things through it. Evan’s eyes widened once he saw the massive group of people lined up on the outside for the autograph signing. Of course, in his mind not everyone out there would be there for the autograph signing right? Maybe some of them just wanted to get some shopping done and wanted nothing to do with the autograph signing. The moment the store worker unlocks the door and opens it, people immediately begin to file into the store. Evan greets the first person that comes his way who was a young teenage girl.

Evan Bourne
Hey there, how’s it going?

The teenage girl just stands there with an excited look on her face, not saying a word to him. Evan arches his right eyebrow and places his hand atop of her’s.

Evan Bourne
Is everything okay?

The moment he touched her hand the girl proceeds to shriek with excitement as she bounces up and down with excitement.

Cindy Bowes
OH MY GOD HE TOUCHED ME! AHHHHHHHHH! I’m a huge fan of yours Evan! I’ve got ALL your gear, whether it is the t-shirt or the arm bands. I’ve been following you the moment you stepped foot in the squared circle to start off your professional career. I know you’re going to kick ass this Sunday at the pay per view and become the NEW Path to Glory champion, I’ll be rooting for you that’s for sure!

Evan Bourne
Thanks for the support, always nice to hear words of encouragement from the fans. I’m definitely going to give it my all in my match against Ted, the next time you see me on your television screen hopefully you’ll be seeing me with the Path to Glory title around my waist.

He gives her a quick wink which makes her giggle as he removes his hand from atop of her’s now that she was settled down, watched her hand him a notepad to which he gives her his autograph before she walks away. Not too long after this another fan comes up to Evan a middle aged man at that, who had his cap on sideways and wearing a steel chain around his neck.

Dice
Yo, you still dealin’ with Maria?

Evan Bourne
Pardon me?

Dice
Alright yo, never mind man. I’m gonna just go. I’ll leave this with you; I’ll hand over my address as well. Tell her to sign this and mail it back to me yo. Thanks, peace!

He proceeds to hand him a handkerchief which was probably what he wanted the autograph on as well as a piece of paper which had his address on it, along with his name which was apparently just “Dice.” He proceeds to give him a fancy hand gesture before leaving the store. Evan proceeds to put it in his bag keeping everything the man had just given him safe in his bag. Evan had met up with a few more fans before he was approached by one last fan. Yet another middle aged man, but this one seemed to be more sophisticated and business-like, sporting a suit and tie.

Doug Willis
Hey there! You’re Evan Bourne right? I’m not here for an autograph, I just wanted to find out more about the mass shooting that took place at the EBWF Headquarters and---

Before the man could complete his sentence, Evan interrupts him.

Evan Bourne
I’m sorry, but I’ve been instructed not to comment further on that situation. You’ll have to keep your eyes and ears peeling onto the website or the television set and listen for new developments on the story as it comes out.

Doug Willis
Okay fair enough, I didn’t intend on being intrusive, however I do know that the EBWF headquarters is located in St. Louis. This is of course where you were born and raised. Were any of your family members involved in the casualties?

Evan Bourne
Thankfully not. I spoke to them the moment I heard about the mass shooting via phone call, but they are all safe and sound. Thank you for your concern.

Doug Willis
That is good to hear. Does the events of the mass shooting effect your psyche at all?

Evan Bourne
That’s a tough one to say, I’ve been through my fair share of ups and downs. But I’ve never gone through anything like this. I’ll know what my mindset is on the night of the event, right now I’m just focused on meeting and greeting the fans. I managed to survive through this autograph signing, of course that’s just the easy part of the week. The hard stuff is still yet to come.

Doug Willis
You’ve got that right, anyways I won’t keep you. Thanks for answering my questions, good luck in your match at the pay per view.

The man simply tips his hat as he leaves the store, causing Evan to arch his eyebrow at the purpose of the man’s questions. He just shrugs his shoulders and gets up from his chair, slinging his bag over his shoulder and walking out of the store as the scene fades to black.

End Scene One.

Scene Two: Moment’s Away.

The Fanniversary pay per view was already underway as the Key Arena was still rocking from the previous match they had just witnessed. Fanniversary was considered to be the most important event of EBWF so it was safe to say that everyone that was competing at the pay per view would bring there “A” game. The scene was set in the backstage area of the arena as Evan was seen performing stretches, using a crate to help him perform the task. He was muttering words of encouragement to himself, leading up to his big Path to Glory title match against Ted DiBiase. Both men had had there run ins with the company renowned stable that referred to themselves as the Coalition and both men had been on the receiving ends of beat downs from the group, so it was safe to say that these two very game competitors would be heading into the match nursing some bumps and bruises. Couple that with the fact that Evan was mired in yet another losing streak, many would view him as the underdog heading into the match-up, which was a fair assessment as he was the challenger and the current reigning champion Ted DiBiase Jr, had held onto the Path to Glory title since the end of January. Evan elevates his left leg so that it was against the crate as he speaks to himself.

Evan Bourne
I’ve got to stay loosened up for my match against Ted tonight. The both of us have had an interest road from Destiny until Fanniversary and it all comes to ahead tonight. Ted managed to get the upper hand on me in our last altercation but I won’t let that happen again, I can’t afford to fall short of my goal tonight and that of course is winning the Path to Glory championship, adding more gold to my resume in my career here in the EBWF.

He proceeds to switch to his right leg now resting it atop of the crate, trying his best to loosen out his muscles making sure that he doesn’t pull anything during his big title match.

Evan Bourne
The Coalition is another group of people that I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled onto, just in case they try to intervene in the match, which is something that I certainly wouldn’t put past them as they’ve gotten into my business before. I’ll have to put all those distractions aside and focus on the task at hand which is emerging out of the Key Arena with the Path to Glory title in my possession.

He nods his head in approval as he removes his leg from the crate and begins throwing mock punches into thin air psyching himself out for his match. He looks around at the backstage area noticing a ton of backstage workers scrambling around. The company was still abuzz after the mass shooting that had taken place at the EBWF headquarters. Almost everyone within the company was talking about it, and so were the fans. It was something that was probably going to be talked about for several weeks; unfortunately the shooting event may even overshadow the Fanniversary pay per view. However you could be sure that the superstars and divas of the EBWF would do everything in their power to make sure that the fans remember everything that took place at Fanniversary and not the mass shooting that took place. Evan continued to throw mock punches into mid-air before he feels a tap on his shoulder causing him to stop throwing the punches into mid-air. The tap felt rather familiar and so did the voice so he didn’t have to turn around; just four simple words that resonated throughout his head were spoken.

“You’re up in five”

The voice came from one of the stagehands who were responsible for telling the athletes when they were expected to head out to the ring for their match. So this was it, five minutes. Five minutes until the high flying Evan Bourne would head out to the ring for his match, in front of jam packed audience filling in the Key Arena. The moment of truth was almost upon us, would Evan Bourne be able to emerge victorious and win his first ever Path to Glory title, ending Ted’s record long reign? Or would Ted reign supreme as he’s done in many times in the past and continue his long reign? These questions would be answered shortly. Evan balls his hands into a tight first and walks out of the backstage area towards the entrance of the in ring area through curtain to head out to the ring as the scene fades to black.
