BACKSTORY
The journey has been long and varied for Tam Nakano so far. At first a dance instructor, she become an underground idol but did not fit in well and fought with management often. Only when she set foot in the ring and became a wrestler did Tam truly find a place where she might belong. She spent years bouncing from one promotion to another, ending up as a newcomer in Stardom where the only people to embrace her were the promotion's notorious villains. Not even that lasted very long, and soon she was listless again and following the promotion's Icon. Eventually she realized she needed to make her own place in the world to be truly happy, so she assembled a team of her own.
Of course, she also took the chance to venture overseas and shocked the world by ascending to the top of EBWF for a brief period in 2021. Like everything else, it didn't last. After losing the title she returned to Japan and resumed leadership of the faction she founded. A run with Stardom's second most prestigious title followed, but she never felt quite that same fire as when she briefly took center stage in the west. When her friend Mina suddenly left to follow the Crimson Queen, Tam realized she had unfinished business. So now she has returned to the place where she became a Goddess of Victory for one brief shining moment. Whether she can recapture the championship or will once again fail was uncertain for a time.
After two months back in EBWF, Tam's passionate pursuit of her Twilight Dream led to a phenomenal run which led to her calling her shot against the reigning EBWF Women's Champion, Dr. Britt Baker DMD. Passions flared between the two and they fought an all out war at Fanniversary 2022 over that beautiful championship belt. At the final bell, Tam Nakano had realized her long held dream of redemption by pinning Dr. Britt Baker, DMD and becoming a two time EBWF Women's Champion!
She went on to call out Utami Hayashishita, the self-proclaimed true queen of EBWF and instead got Utami's then-lieutenant Arisa Hoshiki. The two battled it out at Christmas Eve of Destruction with Tam narrowly defeating Arisa in their first match since 2019. In January 2023 she accepted the challenge of her first rival in EBWF, Alexa Bliss. Tempers flared quickly and the two had an all out war at Last Survivor, ending with Christian interfering just when Alexa had the upper hand. Tam took advantage, pinned Alexa and retained. With Arisa shocking the world by becoming the Last Survivor, a rematch of the Dream Shine partners was imminent. Utami went to war, attacking Tam and demanding that Arisa finish her off. Arisa declined, choosing instead to hit Utami and Himeka in order to save Tam. Incesned at this betrayal and the perceived slight of not being the next challenger, Utami manipulated her way into a three way contest at Fallout. It didn't matter. Tam dug deep, going the distance again to stop the Crimson Queen and the newly resurrected Shining Star to retain her belt again.
As her reign continued, another showdown with Arisa Hoshiki appeared to be on the horizon. Tam expressed concern for Aria's health since Arisa had been out fo action longer and longer after each unsuccessful title challenge so far. She warned Arisa not to fly too close to the sun, offering to even team up with Arisa rather than fight her best friend. Arisa wouldn't be deterred, but fate had other things in store. Oedo Tai suddenly debuted in EBWF, beating down everyone in their path including Tam! Tris Stratus resurfaced and announced she wasn't going to let Tam beat her record for longest reign without a shot at the belt. Everything came to a head when Dream Shine teamed up once more to take on Trish and Britt Baker - a match that ended when Oedo Tai again interfered. This time, however, the Third Woman they'd threatened for weeks made herself known - Tam Nakano! Expressing that she had become better than everyone else, and that she needed to force the division to become stronger, Tam revealed that she'd been the leader in the shadows. Now at the head of the unit where she got her start in the big time, Tam has issued a simple but daunting challenge to the entire EBWF women's division - "If you hate me, get better than me."
And while Arisa Hoshiki briefly ended her reign on top, it was only a matter of time before Tam returned to the title picture. Having played around enough with her rivals, Tam ran the gauntlet to make herself Queen of the Ring on 2024. Just a couple months later she dethroned Becky Lynch to reclaim her prize. Now the stakes are even higher. And the Final Boss is even deadlier.
