Evan Bourne was coming off of an impressive win against the current Breakout champion Shane Douglas, some may even call it an upset win as his career in the EBWF can be described as… “up and down” to say the least. He was in for another tough test tonight as he was scheduled to undergo a triple threat match against Kevin Steen and former Breakout champion Muhammad Hassan. The scene was set in the backstage area of the Resch Center as Evan Bourne was seen standing alongside backstage interviewer Todd Grisham. The Warfare show was already underway so the backstage interviewing scene could be seen by the live audience from the big titantron as the arena erupts with cheers, Todd proceeds to raise the microphone up to his mouth to speak.

Todd Grisham
Ladies and gentlemen, I’m standing alongside Evan Bourne who later on tonight will be going up against Muhammad Hassan and Kevin Steen. Now Evan, two weeks ago you were involved in a competitive match-up against Ted DiBiase Jr. for the Path to Glory championship, you ended up coming a little short of your goal on dethroning him, and many people are asking if you’re still feeling the after effects and agony of losing that match-up?

Evan Bourne
Well Todd, I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t still crushed about losing that match because a small part of me still is. But I can’t afford to dwell on the negatives, as there’s quite a bit to be happy about. Especially my win against Shane Douglas last week, a win that was monumental for me seeing as how he is the current reigning Breakout champion, a championship that I’ve once held, beating a current reigning champion is a step in the right direction and can do wonders for my confidence level at this point. But, I’m not one to sit in the corner in the fetal position and cry about my shortcomings, in fact no one in this company can afford to do that, because if they do they won’t get very far in this business.

Todd Grisham
Fair enough, tonight you’ve got a triple threat match against Kevin Steen and Muhammad Hassan. Two men that certainly aren’t shy from bending the rules to gain an upper hand in the match. How do you prepare yourself for those two competitors.

Evan Bourne
That’s a good point Todd, both Muhammad and Kevin are similar but quite different at the same time. What I mean by this is that as you said, they take great pride in eliciting a response from the crowd, especially if it is negative and they almost always use unsavoury tactics to pick up the win. However the difference about them in some respect is how they wrestle and how they’re built. Kevin has more of a rugged build and he’ll just about run over you if you stand in his way, he also uses highly powerful aggressive moves that can knock even the most persistent superstars out. While Muhammad is much quicker and is a submission specialist, he’ll focus on weakening a body part throughout the match and then go in for the kill by locking in a deadly submission hold. So it’s definitely going to be a challenge adapting to both of their styles but I’ve been in tough matches before where the stakes are high and this one is going to be no different.

Todd Grisham
I’ll let you go after this last question, many of the fans of the EBWF are wondering, when will we see Evan Bourne back in the title picture?

Evan manages a chuckle at Todd’s last question as the even the fans cheer, anxiously anticipating Evan’s answer. He looks at Todd then into the camera before formulating a response.

Evan Bourne
I can’t answer that question accurately Todd, as no one can predict the future, but hopefully I’ll be back in the title hunt soon. It’s been a while since I’ve had championship gold around my waist and that certainly has to change soon. I know it’s not going to be easy and I’ve lost a bunch of big matches lately, but I will keep my head up high and continue approaching my matches with a winning attitude, that will lead to a recipe for success for myself.

With that being said, Evan does the victory sign by sticking up his index and middle finger while smiling into the camera as the screen fades to black with the sound of the fans in the Resch Center in Green Bay Wisconsin cheering loudly in the background.
