Warfare was already underway when the camera cut to the backstage area. Matt Striker was stood with Zack Ryder holding a microphone.

Matt Striker: Ladies and gentleman, with me at this time, Zack Ryder. Zack, you had a rough night at Fanniversary - you lost both of your titles in the same night. Tonight, you'll get the chance to regain one of your championship belts when you invoke your rematch clause and challenge Shane Douglas for the Breakout Title. Are you confident that you'll be able to get the win and become a two-time Breakout Champion?

Ryder removed his sunglasses and looked at Striker. Zack seemed to be acting more serious than usual.

Zack Ryder: Matt, the tragedy that took place just days before Fanniversary put a lot of things into perspective for me. Even though I was a double champion, I wasn't happy with how my career was going. I felt like the Breakout Title was beneath me, that I should be challenging for the PTG or Intercontinental Title. I was more proud of being a tag team champion but I wanted to follow in Trent's footsteps and break into the main event - get a World Title shot. I have since realised that it was wrong of me to take what I had for granted; truth be told, I'm lucky that I'm living my dream and wrestling for the biggest wrestling organisation in the world. I was even luckier to be a double champion and even though I lost both of my titles in the same night, I know I'm good enough to bounce back. Tonight will be the start of that.

Matt Striker: Your opponent, Shane Douglas, is a veteran of the ring; he made his pro wrestling debut in 1982, three years before you were born. Do you think his experience was what enabled him to beat you at Fanniversary? And if so, how do you plan to overcome that tonight?

Zack Ryder: Experience isn't everything, Matt... Shane was the better wrestler at Fanniversary and he deserved his victory but I take some of the blame for my defeat. I didn't perform to the best of my ability that night and Shane took full advantage. Tonight I'll bring my A game and Douglas won't know what hit him. Mark my words bro, I'm going to win the title tonight.

Matt Striker: You said earlier that you thought the Breakout Title was beneath you before you lost it. Having gained a new perspective, will you be proud of yourself if you regain the gold?

Zack Ryder: You know it, bro! I should have been more proud when I won the belt to begin with. But what will make me really proud is going on to have a successful title reign like the one Trent had. The Breakout Title should be a stepping stone; a chance to move up to the next level. Maybe I'm not there yet but I will be. I'll take the first step tonight. It's going to be SSSIIICCCKKK!

Zack smiled - he was acting more like himself now and seemed in high spirits. As he put his sunglasses back on, Striker looked into the camera.

Matt Striker: There you have it, Zack's thoughts on his match which takes place later on tonight! We'll have that match and more action for you after the break.
