The scene opened backstage at the Scotiabank Saddledome, where Adam Cole was stood with Britt Baker. Cole spoke first.
Adam Cole: Tonight, I continue my journey to becoming your King of the Ring, and earning a shot at the EBWF World Championship for the first time. Standing between Adam Cole baybay, and a place in the quarter finals, is one of EBWF’s newest recruits… Damian Priest. So Priest, you’re a Paul Heyman guy, huh? Big f’n deal. I’m an Adam Cole guy, and I always have been. Throughout my career, I’ve had people that have seen my potential, and I’ve had people who think I’m not worth shit. I’m grateful for the people who have supported me, but in a weird way I’m even more grateful for the people who have doubted me. Because they’re the ones who have driven me on to greatness, out of determination to prove them wrong. But you, Damian, you’re just Heyman’s latest lackey. He’s using you to try and stay relevant, and when I take you out tonight, you’ll be nothing more than a former Paul Heyman guy.
As Cole stepped back, Britt Baker stepped forwards and began to speak.
Britt Baker: To win the Queen of the Ring tournament is tough… especially when the first round matches are triple threats. You can lose without being beat; look what happened to Becky Lynch last week. But while the odds might not be in my favour, you should never bet against the doctor. I am one of the hardest working women on the EBWF roster… and don’t forget, I still haven’t had my rematch for the Women’s Championship. I shouldn’t have to win this tournament to get my rematch, but I’m going to give it my all anyway. Because that’s just the sort of woman I am. So Liv Morgan, Maika… be warned. No matter how much you want the victory tonight, I guarantee I want it more.
