Homecoming (Chris Jericho RP)

Post by Ben M »

The scene opened in the parking lot of the Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. As the camera started rolling, a car pulled up outside the arena. Out stepped one of Winnipeg’s own… Chris Jericho. Jericho had a huge smile on his face, and as soon as he saw the camera, he began to speak.

Chris Jericho: Ah, Winnipeg! There’s nothing like being back in the city where it all started for me. I remember my first match here back in 1991, in a bar where the ceiling was so low that when I jumped off the top rope, I put a hole in the ceiling. Good times, eh?

Jericho chuckled, shaking his head.

Chris Jericho: But I’ve come a long way since then. Thirty-plus years in this business, and I’m still just as hungry for success as I was that night. A lot of wrestling fans, even my fellow wrestlers, thought I was beginning to wind down my career… but I showed the world I wasn’t done yet back in January, when I shocked everyone by winning the Last Survivor match. Unfortunately, I didn’t go on to win my thirteenth EBWF World Championship… but winning the King of the Ring tournament would give me another shot at the gold, and you better believe that’s what I want. Does that make me greedy? Maybe. But honestly, it’s not just about the title. It’s about proving a point. Proving to all of you, to the EBWF fans, and to every single wrestler in that locker room that I’ve still got it, bay bay!

Jericho punched the air, then turned back to face the camera.

Chris Jericho: And that brings me to tonight. Seth Rollins, you and I, we have a history. We’ve tangled before, and you know firsthand what I bring to the table. But tonight, in front of my hometown crowd, I’m bringing something extra. Seth, you’re a talented guy. You’ve been around the block, made a name for yourself, and you’ve got the accolades to prove it. But do you remember what I said to you when we faced each other last year, Seth? After everything you have accomplished in your career, are you really content to be playing second fiddle to Christian Cage and becoming his lackey? That’s not the Seth Rollins I used to watch tearing it up in Ring of Honor. That’s not the Seth Rollins who should be headlining shows and going after championships.

Jericho straightened up, his voice growing louder.

Chris Jericho: Tonight, you’ve got a chance to step up. To prove to everyone, including yourself, that you’re not just Christian’s sidekick. You’re stepping into the ring with the GOAT, the Ayatollah of Rock ‘n’ Rolla, the man who has been EBWF World Champion more times than anyone else. You have the chance to piss off not just the people in Winnipeg, but break the hearts of millions of Canadians, by beating one of their heroes… yours truly, Y2J, Chris Jericho.

Jericho smirked, a glint of challenge in his eyes.

Chris Jericho: So what’s it gonna be, Seth? Are you going to bring your best? Are you going to show the world that you’re still the Seth Rollins who can take on anyone and come out on top? Or are you going to let me embarrass you like I did last time? Not that losing to Chris Jericho is anything to be embarrassed about… after all, I am the best in the world at what I do. And since we’re in Winnipeg, and this is the King of the Ring tournament, I’ll be even more determined to beat you than I was last time. But Seth, look into my eyes, and believe me when I tell you… I want the best Seth Rollins tonight. I want the guy who still has something to prove. Because that’s who I am, Seth. Thirty-four years in this business, and I’m still out here, proving that I’m the best. Tonight, it’s not just about the King of the Ring tournament. It’s about showing everyone that Chris Jericho is still the man to beat. So I’m begging you, Rollins, bring it. Bring everything you’ve got. Because tonight, right here in Winnipeg, you’re stepping into the ring with a larger than life living legend. And trust me when I tell you… I’ve still got it!

Jericho flashed a cocky grin, then turned and headed towards the entrance of the Canada Life Centre, the camera following him as the scene faded to black.
