EBWF Intercontinental Champion John Cena was legitimately injured in his tag team match this past Monday night on Warfare, suffering from blunt force soft-tissue injuries to his larynx and trachea. It was reported that Cena initially denied medical assessment after his match but was later taken to a local medical facility due to stridor (high-pitched wheezes produced by a narrowing or obstructed upper airway) and increasing hoarseness that suggested possible airway compromise. Cena received a CT scan, was monitored for changes, provided humidified oxygen and systemic steroids, and was released a few hours later.
Not wanting to risk further injury or complications, Cena was kept off the match card for the March 25th episode of Warfare however sources say to still expect Cena to appear in some fashion as the show will be the last Warfare before the company’s biggest Pay Per View of the year, Wrestlemania.
A representative with the EBWF spoke with us and assured us that, “John Cena is doing very well and will be spending a few days at home resting in St. Louis before returning to the Road to Wrestlemania tour as scheduled.”
