Becoming a Legend

OOC: Had more planned for this, but in the end it was rushed and I'm a bit disappointed but what can you do? Big shout out to Holly for making this feud awesome, it's been great writing with you. Good luck to everyone else, hopefully you enjoy this and if you have any comments that'd be great.
In Ted's EBWF tenure he had participate in 3 Wrestlemania events. In all three events he was victorious. In his very first Wrestlemania match he became Tag Team Champion, in the next he defeated Brian Kendrick in a Steel Cage match and in his most recent match he successfully defended his Path to Glory Championship. At the very same Wrestlemania events John Cena became both No Limits Champion and Intercontinental Champion, lost the World Championship and at the last Wrestlemania event he wasn't on the card. Ted had been undefeated at Wrestlemania, but he had never defeated John Cena in a match. John Cena had managed to defeat Ted on multiple occasions and also took the Tag Team Championships from him and CM Punk. Wrestlemania was always not just a one night event, it was a week long event which had everyone involved from the new wrestlers to the seasoned veterains. There were signings, television appearences, radio spots, and much more all for the promotion of Wrestlemania. Many of the top stars had the local television and radion spots to promote Wrestlemania which didn't leave people like Ted DiBiase with much to do other than his group signing time. So in this down time that Ted had he decided to film a promo spot, hyping the match against Cena in a few days.
Ted had decided to use his hotel room as the setting for his promo and he had set up a camera pointing directly at a desk chair where he would be sitting. The room looked like a typical hotel room. The section that was in view showed the desk chair positioned near a large wooden desk, which had various items placed on it that Ted had left there. Ted wore dark blue jeans and one of his EBWF shirts which was partially covered by a black hoodie that he wore with the hood covering the top of his head. After pushing several buttons on the camera and sitting down in his chair, the camera began to record. Ted stared directly into the camera, his expression didn't show any anger or happiness but what it did show was Ted's focus and drive.
Ted Jr: It's that time of the year where everyone takes it up that one gear.
Ted lifted his hand, showing a raise in level.
Ted Jr: But does anyone care what Dolph Ziggler is doing? No. Does anyone care what Christian is doing? No. All eyes are on me as I gain another championship. I won't win it with Dream Street, or the Million Dollar Dream. I'll win it by making the blood of John Cena pour out on that canvas. One drop of blood will continue my perfect record and I will become the new Intercontinental Champion. And I'll go on to hold it longer than Cena and longer than anyone in history. Because that's what I do. I took the EBWF record book and I destroyed it. I have set more records than John Cena and that was only in 2012. Of course you'll hear people say that that's all I say, but when you're the longest reigning champion in history that's all I have to say.
Ted moved slightly to get a bit more comfortable.
Ted Jr: Even though I may have broken records, the fact remains that my record against John Cena is not in my favour. Since arriving in EBWF I have failed to defeat Cena in any match, and one of my failures gave Cena the Tag Team Championships. So a lot of people have asked me: Why did you challenge Cena? It's simple. I've taken every top wrestler to the limit and more often than not I've won. CM Punk, AJ Styles, Jeff Hardy, Randy Orton, and Chris Jericho have all faced me before and I've beaten majority of them. Veterans and legends of EBWF have lost to me but not John Cena. These last few months all that's been on my mind is John Cena saying that I've never beaten him. I scratched, clawed and fought my way to get to where I am. I have achieved more than most here but I've always been seen as nothing more than a minor threat. My 11 month long reign was called pointless and irrelevant whereas CM Punk's 6 month reign was called a historic feat. Everywhere I go I am always told that I'm not as good as Punk, Cena's more deserving of a championship than you, we don't have faith in you. That was the bullshit line I have been fed for years. When I was World Champion, they didn't have faith. When I won the tag titles on multiple occasions, nobody had any faith in my abilities. Nobody said "Here's the ball now roll with it" I was always passed up for someone else. When everyone had to endure 6 months of Randy Orton as champion, did I get any opportunities? No. But someone like Wade Barrett and Justin Gabriel got a shot. They were in the company for less than 2 months and they got a shot. Fast forward to 2012 and I beat Randy Orton. So Wrestlemania is as much about finally defeating Cena as it is about putting my name out there.
Ted's voice was raised now as he talked about himself.
Ted Jr: In 2011 at Wrestlemania I took on that deranged lunatic Brian Kendrick in a Steel Cage match and WON. Several months down the track he has a knife to my throat and his drug addict friend breaks my leg. I overcame tremendous odds to beat Kendrick when everyone thought he would have a clean sweep. I defy all odds. I may be seen as an underdog in many encounters much like this one, but I will always come out on top. I have worked too damn hard to come up short on this. While Cena has been shaking hands, kissing babies and having a laugh I have been training. I have been putting in the hours in the gym and in the ring making myself better. Until everyone sees me as the top guy here in EBWF I will not stop. Everyone in the back wants to joke and have fun but it only shows that they accept mediocrity. I'm better than that.
Ted slowly wheeled the chair closer to the camera.
Ted Jr: At Wrestlemania I stop John Cena once and for all. I will make the blood of Cena flow for all to see and I will keep my Wrestlemania record alive. I have no doubt that this will be a hellacious match and both of us will be sore for the next day. But it's worth it to show everyone that the great John Cena, the man that has never lost to me, is human. I'll show the world that I am who I say I am and I will become the new Intercontinental Champion.
Ted got up and hit the stop button on the camera as the scene faded.
Scene 2
It was nearly show time at MetLife Stadium and as the crowds began to fill the stadium, final pieces of preparation were completed. Ted took this short amount of time to enjoy some peace and quiet. He sat in his personal locker room, counting down the minutes before he would appear. He was dressed in his standard ring attire and he wore a hoodie for the time being. While he sat quietly, the door to his locker room opened and Michael Cole entered the room with a camera man behind him.
Michael Cole: Ted! Mind if I get a quick word with you before your match?
Ted sighed loudly and stood up for the interview.
Ted Jr: Make it quick.
Michael Cole quickly got into position and the interview started almost immediately.
Michael Cole: Good evening everyone and welcome to EBWF's biggest event of the year, Wrestlemania. Tonight we will see the highly anticipate World Championship match between Dean Ambrose and CM Punk with Brian Kendrick as the special guest referee. Another match that has been building for months has been for the Intercontinental Championship. John Cena will defend his championship against Ted DiBiase in a First Blood match where the winner has to make their opponent bleed. What's your strategy going into this match, Ted?
Ted had a stoic expression on his face and it looked like he didn't care about what Cole had to say.
Ted Jr: Win. When you get out there any strategy you had goes out the window. There are too many variables that can change the outcome of the match.
Michael Cole: In the last several weeks this feud with Cena has spiralled out of control, what do you have against the Champ?
Ted Jr: I hate what he stands for. I hate that he is given every opportunity to become a legend while I'm simply given leftovers. Did you see me on the poster for Wrestlemania? No. Was I part of a decent group for Access? Hell no. I have achieved more than most here in this company but I'm still seen as a kid trying to live off his father's legacy. I've got my own legacy. I have achieved what my father couldn't. I've been a World Champion, I'm the only person to hold the PTG Championship twice, I've held championship gold longer than anyone in history! But no, I'm still considered to be on the same level as Brodus Clay.
Michael Cole: Your record at Wrestlemania has been perfect in the several years you've been with the company, do you think that you'll be able to keep that record alive?
Ted Jr: If I didn't think I could win I wouldn't be here. I want that Intercontinental Championship, it's one of only 2 championships that I haven't held in EBWF. But what's more important than that championship is the satisfaction of knowing that I beat John Cena. In the last year I've beaten top EBWF superstars, former World Champions. I've beaten Randy Orton, Jeff Hardy, Kurt Angle, former World Champ Christian. All big names in EBWF and the entire wrestling industry. It's not a question of whether I have the skills, I've got that covered. The only thing stopping me from winning is focus. Lack of focus lost me the Path to Glory Championship and its not going to happen again. I'm taking on one of the biggest names in professional wrestling. Nobody expects me to win as that's why I will win.
Michael Cole: How different is it competing in a First Blood match compared to a standard match?
Ted Jr: Tactics change, but the end goal is the same. There will be weapons involved, dirty tactics, but in the end someone is going to bleed. All it needs is one drop of blood to lose the match. But I can guarantee you that a lot of blood will be spilt.
Michael Cole: Any final words?
Ted Jr: Defeating John Cena won't make me feel better, not being champion will make me feel better. It's the knowledge of being the best man out there that drives me. If I defeat Cena, I'm that top dog, I'm the Alpha. But if I lose, I'm nothing.
Ted sat back down and put his head in his hands while Cole quickly wrapped up the interview and left. Ted wanted to win and he knew it would get ugly. The Championship didn't mean much in the overall match, but it was a sweet reward. Ted wanted the win for the respect, to show people that he was as good as he knew he was. Defeating John Cena would raise Ted up in EBWF. He would be on the posters, the program guides. He'd be TV shows and radio program's. He'd be an Icon. He'd be the face of the company. That was what he wanted.
