Starting Again

Wrestlemania had come and gone for another year, and it was arguably one of the greatest events in recent history. Ted DiBiase and John Cena put on a hell of a match that certainly left both competitors a bit worse for wear. In the end, Cena was victorious and DiBiase was unsuccessful in his quest to win the Intercontinental Championship. Directly after the match, Ted headed straight back to his locker room and resident EBWF doctor Hope Clemente was assessing Ted's injuries.
Hope: It seems as though you and John certainly beat the hell out of each other. Apart from a few cuts and bruises you seem fine. However since you took shots to the head, as a precaution we'll check for concussions.
Ted didn't immediately acknowledge Hope, but instead he groaned.
Hope: I doubt whether you have any head injuries, so in a couple of days after we've done the tests you should be good to go. In the mean time, take it easy. Everyone has been going hard out for Wrestlemania and now it's time to take it back a notch.
Ted slowly looked at Hope, trying not to move too quickly.
Ted Jr: As long as there is someone in the crowd, I can't let up. If I let up and don't perform to the best of my ability those people won't return. If I want to move forward in this company I can't afford to take it back a notch. I knew what I was getting into when I started wrestling and I haven't regretted it. It's hard, but in a way it's peaceful.
Hope looked at Ted with a confused look.
Hope: So your match with John was "peaceful"?
Ted Jr: It was. Before we went on the air, you've got people running around stressing, yelling and arguing. It's absolute chaos. But when I'm in the ring I know what I've got to do, it's me and another guy going out there doing our thing. There's no stress. So I've got another year to push myself harder and make it to that main event.
Hope seemed to understand where Ted was coming from and at that point decided to leave him to attend to others.
Hope: Well for at least a week, take it easy. We'll get the scans done to confirm that you don't have a concussion and you'll be set for next Warfare.
Hope turned around to leave Ted's locker room and just as she reached the door, Ted spoke.
Ted Jr: Thanks.
Hope acknowledged Ted with a nod and left. Ted sat there for a while, thinking, resting and setting goals for next Wrestlemania.
Scene 2
The post Wrestlemania Warfare was in Washington DC at the Verizon Centre and it was a stacked card which included a Tag Team Championship match and Brian Kendrick's first match since his Wrestlemania match with Randy Orton. As usual, Ted had an interview scheduled with Michael Cole. Ted found Michael at the interview set and they quickly started the interview.
Michael Cole: Welcome everybody to Warfare, with me at this time is Ted DiBiase who is scheduled to face Dolph Ziggler tonight in one on one action. Coming off an amazing Wrestlemania, would you care to comment on your match with John Cena.
Ted Jr: We beat the absolute hell out of each other, and I know that after that match John respects me. It might just be a little bit of respect, but he knows that I certainly wasn't all talk. At the end of the day, John Cena was better. He was more hungry than I was and hats off to him. Tonight I'm not worried about Cena, I've got Dolph Ziggler to worry about.
Michael Cole: Ziggler is also coming off a Wrestlemania loss and will be looking to avenge it by defeating you here tonight.
Ted Jr: Once again, I'm going to compete against someone who doesn't seem to realise that even though my father is considered a legend, I have NEVER used his accomplishments to rest on my laurels. I'm a 2 time PTG Champion, I'm a 5 time Tag Team Champion and a former World Champion. My father didn't win those titles for me, I did. I used my ability and skill to defeat countless opponents more talented than Dolph Ziggler to become champion. I've defeated the former World Champion twice for championships, once for the World Championship and once for the Path to Glory Championship. People say that I have tainted my father's legacy but that's where they're wrong. I've created my own legacy and I've still got many years ahead of me. I lost to Cena at Wrestlemania and I'm going to take that loss on the chin. One day I'll become Intercontinental Champion and one day I'll become World Champion once again. I can only get better from here.
Michael Cole: My next question was going to be where are you going to go from here, but it looks like you've answered it.
Ted Jr: I'm going to go back to what I was so good at, winning matches. I'm going to win, and keep on winning until I earn a title shot and then I'm going to become a champion. 2012 was an amazing year for me, and 2013 will be no different. I'm going to win championships, it doesn't matter if it's the Intercontinental, Tag Team, Path to Glory or even the World Championship. This year I'm winning gold and I'm holding onto it.
Michael Cole: After the events that transpired with the rise of The Shield at Wrestlemania, will you be helping EBWF take down The Shield?
Ted Jr: No. Winning a Wrestlemania main event and setting things on fire doesn't mean that they are unstoppable. I don't care what The Shield does and unless I'm in the ring facing them it doesn't bother me what they do. I'm not going to be an idiot and take on ten people like Cena did at Wrestlemania, I'm smarter than that. So if The Shield have a problem with me they can take it up with me. If not, then I don't care.
Ted walked off the interview set as Michael Cole wrapped up, After a disappointing Wrestlemania, it was time for Ted to start over and the only way to do that was to defeat Dolph Ziggler. It wasn't an impossible task, or even a very difficult task. It just had to be done.
