Trent Barreta (AKA Trent?) had been teasing a heel turn for the past few months. His programme with Maryse and his darker promos seemed to hint a heel turn was in the making.
Plans for a BarRyder break up and a feud were even discussed, but as of now it seems that those plans have been scrapped.
Reports indicate that Trent? feels a lot more comfortable being a heel, like he was during his first stint in the EBWF. Even though his career as a face is much more memorable, EBWF considered turning Trent? heel... Until around WrestleMania.
As we all know (And mark the F out for), The Shield broke into the EBWF at WrestleMania and tore the house down. Ambrose, Rollins and recently debuted Reigns are on top of the wave and it seems there is nothing left to go but up for them.
The EBWF already bolsters a heavily packed heel roster: Bully Ray, Alberto del Rio, Brock Lesnar, Curt Hawkins, Corey Graves, Drew McIntyre, Fandango, Dolph Ziggler, Kane, Leo Kruger, Seth Rollins and Syxx. The Ikeda promotion has always had more heel characters than faces, but EBWF looks like it has no place for any other major heel for the time being.
However, there is a lack of babyfaces and ever since the Shield's crusade for justice began, very few people have actually stepped up against them. With Punk reportedly taking some time off to heal some injuries and rest after holding EBWF over his shoulders for the past 6 months, only John Cena, The Miz and AJ Styles have been thrusted into the feud with the Shield. They do have delivered some amazing matches, but you know how wrestling fans are. Fans always want to be surprised, they want something new.
With so many returns reportedly taking place and even a couple of new signing being dealt with as you read this one has to wonder: Could we see an up and coming wrestler being taken to the next level and groomed to be the one who beats the shield? Only time will tell. With Trent?'s heel turn in the recycle bin, it is his duty to establish himself as a top, main eventer face, and a possible World Title contender.
